Designing a fractional controller is simplified and innovative in this paper. Given the importance of direct synthesis, the method achieves strong closed-loop performance. Numerical investigations reveal better servo and regulatory responses than published strategies. The method is verified on quadrotor. Abstract This article presents a simple yet novel method of designing a fractional-order proportional derivative (namely, PDμ${\text{PD}}^\mu$) controller for all types of integrating plants. Considering the importance of the direct synthesis approach, the method obtains robust closed-loop p ..read more

VSG‐controlled parallel‐connected voltage‐source converters in low‐voltage microgrid with dominant resistive impedance
Wiley Online Library » The Journal of Engineering
by Mohsen Rahimi

This paper deals with the control of parallel-operated converter-based VSGs in low-voltage grids with dominant resistive line impedances. The VSG equations for applications in low-voltage grids with highly resistive impedances are established. In the swing equation, the converter frequency and power-angle are related to the reactive power. An enhanced P-V droop characteristic for proper sharing of active power between the VSGs is proposed. Control of each VSG is modified for stabilizing the system under lower values of R/X ratio Abstract This paper deals with the control and performance impr ..read more

A lumped-element circuit model of district heating (DH) pipe considering heat loss, transfer delay and enthalpy transfer is proposed. The proposed model has a high level of accuracy and is computationally more efficient than the existing distributed-element circuit model of pipe. The lumped-element circuit representing the DH pipe has only two nodes by eliminating internal nodes. Abstract Electromagnetic transients program (EMTP) is widely used to analyze transients in power systems. With the increased interest in integrated energy systems (IESs), it would be beneficial to extend the applica ..read more

The velocity fields surrounding a propeller operating at 5000 rpm, with a moving obstacle situated 0.2 meters away, are portrayed. The depiction reveals how the presence of the obstacle influences fluid flow patterns and velocity distribution near the propeller. Such insights are essential for comprehending how obstructions can affect propeller performance and informing decisions in engineering design and operations within relevant applications. Abstract Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology is experiencing strong growth in many fields such as military and civil. When operating around obs ..read more

A method for phase retrieval from magnitude-only data for electrically small antennas intended for use in relation to Body-Centric Wireless Communication is presented. The method utilizes the Spherical Wave Expansion (SWE) description of the electromagnetic field radiated by the antenna under test (AUT). The required additional phase information is acquired from additional magnitude-only data sets of the AUT in different orientations defined by rotations of the AUT along the Eulerian angles. Abstract A method for phase retrieval from magnitude-only data for electrically small antennas intend ..read more

In this study, an optimisation model is developed for two-stage energy management of a residential building to minimise energy cost under monthly power-based tariffs for peak demand and time variable electricity prices. The expected peak demand is determined in the first stage, and then the energy management system minimises the energy cost in the second stage. The optimisation problem of the second stage is solved in a rolling time window for the real time operation of the flexible energy sources in the building. Abstract In this study, an optimisation model is developed for two-stage energ ..read more

Over the past few decades, significant strides have been made in improving DC–DC converters. These advances have brought about more complex circuitry, prompting the use of sophisticated methods like Small Signal Analysis for dynamic analysis. This research introduces an innovative approach based on energy function dynamic modes, allowing for simpler criteria in describing dynamic processes and approximating the original converter's behaviour. Abstract This paper introduces a new approach for analyzing the dynamics of DC–DC converters. Currently, the primary widely accepted method for examini ..read more

This work proposes an automatic constraint programming solver selection method based on machine learning for the cable tree wiring problem. Compared to traditional single CP solvers, the proposed method can achieve better results by automatically selecting the best solver for each problem instance. Abstract Cable trees are primarily employed in industrial products to facilitate energy transfer and information exchange among various components. When utilizing machines for assembly, it is essential to convert the wiring plan into a sequence of cable insertion operations executed by the machine ..read more

The two-stage converter system with converter station is suitable for the situation that the export voltage level of offshore oil production platform is high and the voltage transmission level is relatively low. The two-stage converter system without converter station has the same two-stage structure as the two-stage converter system with converter station, and its reliability is higher than that with the converter station. Abstract To improve the economy of offshore oil production platform shore-based power transmission mode, the reactive power capacity allocation technology of offshore oil ..read more
