Need Help Identifying Ore

I’m new to gold prospecting. I’ve found placer gold but I’m still confused what to look for to confirm if my ore samples have gold or not. I’m pretty sure I see small grains of gold in the greenish mineralized parts. What are your thoughts? submitted by /u/BatImportant8632 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I have this rock. It weighs about 150 grams. Was wondering what I should do with it. Id like to sell it but not sure whether I am better to sell it as is or to crush it and extract the gold. Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated. submitted by /u/abolished_camel [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hard to photograph to show colour, is this gold? Came from a well known gold area in south island NZ. Thinking its likely pyrite but would love an opinion of someone who knows better! There is one big bit that can be seen in the photo submitted by /u/Junior_Secretary4836 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

This sub was accidentally set to 'approval required' for 3 months, not sure how I managed that but it wasn't intentional. A short backstory, I used to mod both this sub and /prospecting and originally (like a decade ago) I had hoped /prospecting would turn into a commercial or small scale general exploration sub (all minerals), but it turned into the gold prospecting sub instead, so this one ended up being a backup even though my intention was for this to be the gold prospecting sub and not the other. In case anyone was wondering why there are 2 apparant gold prospecting subs - this is why. A ..read more
