Here's one for the techies, about taking the subjectivity out of evaluating fly rods. We've all seen the question a hundred time - probably more: What line should I use for X fish? What line should I put on Y rod... Wouldn't it be great if there were a way to measure a rod - objectively - and find out exactly what line weight will load that rod really well? It turns out that there is such a system. It was developed by Dr. William Hanneman decades ago, and in every instance I've tried so far, it's nailed the line weight I should use for given rod.
