Due to a dry week, our trout streams are clear and flowing at seasonal norms or slightly lower. Water temps are perfect, ranging from the high 50’s to the low 60’s. The spring bug buffet continues, with caddis and mayfly hatches in full swing, and some early arrivals of yellow Sally stones. It’s a mighty fine time to be a dry fly flinger. Go late and stay later. Haven't tied anything in at least 10 years. Maybe 15. Was never skilled but always enjoyed it. Materials had been packed away in the basement. Had to throw out a bunch of stuff. Does anyone here fly fish for smallmouth bass in Eastern Tennessee? I fish trout in the Smokies most every weekend (I live close to the TN side of the park) and I’ve been wanting to branch out and start doing some wading for smallmouth in the area.
