Lake Emma near Mt. Democrat, I have fished there numerous times and caught some trout. I visited the lake last July, around the 10th, lake was still 75% cover with ice. There is a shallow area that was ice free and in past years I would see cruising fish and frequent rises. last July I saw ZERO activity, I just stood at a good vantage point for almost an hour watching and never saw any sign of life, this left me believing that a winter kill may have happened. My question is has anyone... Lake Emma ..read more

So I’m probably going to get trashed for asking, but figured why not… I’m looking to find some small streams around the Monument/Rampart Range area that might have some fish. Done some google map searching and drive-bys up Mt. Herman road, but wanted to ask the public if there was anything that was already out there. Anyone have any tips? Even if my chances of catching anything are unlikely it’s fine, as long as you’re saying there’s a chance ..read more

I'm going to be heading to the Flat Tops via Stillwater Reservoir and am looking for some advice. We have tentatively planned a 3-night trip at the end of Aug and I've been looking at the following route: I got this route from an old blog and I want to make sure I'm not passing up another good opportunity. Realistically we don't want to drive more than 4h from Denver so the Yampa entry point is great. So few questions: Has anyone done this or another... Flat Tops fishing advice ..read more

Anyone for a Cup of Coffee! I built this one with an epoxy center handle and walnut hoop. It took a few pours to get it done right which made for a long drawn out process. Also the polishing was bananas. All and all this is a one off if there ever was one. This is up for auction and you can check that out here... Coffe Bean Trout Net Build ..read more

I love fly fishing for Carp. I could tell this big girl was my target by watching her body language. She wouldn't be a huge fish out of the Denver South Platte, but for this creek she's pretty big ..read more

With all this nice weather who has been out waving the stick? I'm sure most of us hard core fly anglers didn't miss a beat all winter though. I went out last Sunday and that will be the last time I fish any known water on a weekend. What a zoo. Picked up more trash than I usually see in a season! Also had a chance to hit a little river I used to fish all the time. The little black stones were out in force. Surface action was outstanding. Didn't last long but it was long enough as I...
