Hi everyone, Im new to the forum and wanted to share the story of my first trips out detecting. Its a bit lengthy but hopefully some of you will enjoy reading through and no doubt will have a chuckle at the all too familiar beginner mistakes I made. Skip to the end if you just want to see the results. For me, detecting was a natural progression from the infrequent alluvial prospecting I have been doing over the passed 12-14 months since moving to Victoria and first coming across youtube... G'day all, 1st time poster here, I've been bitten by the gold bug and coming down with the fever. Now my question is, I'm after some sort of gold detector more complimentary for sluicing/panning, as in detecting for flour/pickers/nugs basically every size you would be able to find in a creek. Which route would be better to explore for that purpose? Detector or pin pointer ..read more

Good morning guys. So yesterday we stopped at a random spot for 2 hrs of prospecting before heading home. There were no diggings at this random spot. My detector kept giving very low signal with every step. There was a little quartz and a few stones that went off its nah na with the detector. At the time there was no visible gold and the stones weren't your normal quartz. So i popped them in my bag anyway. When I got home I had a look with my loupe and the is fine flour gold spotted... I'm sitting on the fence atm about purchasing the GPX6000 as all I see is videos on YouTube of sub gram finds at similar depths to the SDC2300. Is it just a SDC2300 on steroids imitating the coiltek series of larger coils or can it punch deep? For an extra $1500 You have a GPZ7000. What are your thoughts ..read more

Hi guys. Just purchased my first detector and I know it's not exactly the best choice for the job but I was hoping someone could point me to a forum for tips on setting up the nox 600 to better be able to find gold. I will eventually be putting a 6" coil on it for crevices but any links, tips and knowledge would be very much appreciated. Cheers and thanks guys ..read more

Hi there everyone, thank you for allowing me to join the forum. This is my first post. I am in Arizona, US and I am looking to purchase a metal detector to use to find small gold, flakes, and pickers in dry washes, old mine tailings, and over bedrock. I have access to a couple small washes and one massive wash (dry river) that are full of sand and smooth rocks. I am very eager to start scanning these for any gold that may be there. My budget it under $1k and for the last 3 yrs I had my... Read more ..read more

I am searching for a detector to do gold prospecting and find tiny gold pieces.. I am looking at the Gold Bug 2, Kruzer, and Goldmaster 24k. I read in a forum that in the due to technology advancing that single frequency detectors wont be popular in the future... I would like my detector to retain it's value over the years in case i decide to sell it or swap it out for another one in the future. Will the single frequency ones lose value as the multi frequency detectors start becoming... Read more ..read more

Hi, which of these is more advanced, picks up smaller gold pieces (tiny nuggets), and has ground balancing? I will be gold prospecting in the Arizona desert in mineralized soil, rocks, washes, and over bedrock, looking for small gold pieces i can pick up with tweezers. If the machine breaks in the US does Nokta have the ability to service these machines in the US? Which of these would YOU get? Thanks ..read more
