Having grown year on year, Saturday’s Autism in Cricket Come and Try Session was our largest event to date, with over 250 registrations received to join us at the WACA Ground.   Families travelled from all over WA to take part in our annual event – running for its fourth year – with some coming from as far as Albany and Broome. For more than 20 years, Ben has been a proud member of the Superfins group, a squad of over 40 friends who train together each week to participate in different swimming events for fitness and fun. The Superfins are not exclusive to swimming however, attending annual camping trips, award night dinner dances and more! We celebrated World Autism Month this April! We kicked off the month with World Autism Week starting on Monday the 27th of March and finishing up with World Autism Day on Sunday the 2nd of April. We are excited to announce the launch of the Purple Hands Foundation Sensory Room at Optus Stadium for the Fremantle Dockers 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership Season!   As a part of our Community Inclusion Project and in collaboration with the Purple Hands Foundation, the Fremantle Dockers charitable foundation, we have created a Sensory Room for Fremantle Dockers home games at Optus Stadium.  Over the past year, as a part of this project we have provided advice, in-room support, and guidance in developing a space for individuals with sensory sensitivities. This April, we came together to ignite change in our community for World Autism Month. We hosted a number of community events throughout the month for all ages. The Gift of Music: The Bruce Okely Music Appreciation Draw

The inaugural Bruce Okely Music Appreciation Draw saw many budding musicians from families in our First Steps Early Intervention and School Age Programs participate. Entrants were invited to share with us in 150 words or less what they would do with a music gift of $250, going into a draw to receive one of four $250 they could choose to use towards the purchase of a musical instrument or singing and music lessons. Kicking Off 2023 With Our Regional Intensive Therapy Program!

This January we held our Regional Intensive Therapy program where families from regional WA came to Perth for a week of therapy, workshops, parent and carer catch ups, family time and a whole lot of play and learning!  We welcomed back some familiar faces as well as getting to know families who are new to the program! Alex’s Cricket Journey to the WA A Grade ICL Cricket Team

From attending a Come and Try Session to joining the WA A Grade ICL Cricket Team  Alex started playing cricket at our Autism in Cricket Come Try Session 4 seasons ago, when he was 12 years old. At the time Alex didn’t know much about cricket and was just learning how to play the game, but he had a great time at the session and went on to register with Bateman Junior Cricket Club.
