Snow Industry News

At the beginning of April, the Fieberbrunn mountain railways not only ended a successful winter season, but also a 33-year era: after over 23 million transports, the Streuboden and Lärchfilzkogel group cable cars were said goodbye to their well-deserved retirement. Construction work on the new, modern monocable gondola has already begun and, thanks to crowdfunding, it is a joint project with locals and guests. Admittedly, it was an end to the season that was a bit melancholy: the red, eye-catching gondolas of the Streubodenbahn had been in tireless use since 1991. The group trains accompanied ..read more

Expectations for a gangbuster finish to the ski season courtesy of widespread and generous snowfall across western mountain destinations over the last six weeks didn’t quite materialize in March. While March did benefit from that snow, the momentum isn’t carrying into April and the hoped-for seasonal recovery is being described as “more like an adequate improvement,” according to DestiMetrics,* the Business Intelligence division of Inntopia, in their monthly Market Briefing. Holiday Mountain Starts Demolition Of 1968 Poma Double
Snow Industry News

This 1968 Poma double proudly took skiers to the top of "The Bowl" until the flood in 2005 closed the North section of the property. It was torturously slow compared to the super fast detachable Poma disc lift which was right of the Bowl. It was a long-standing "right of passage" when a skier could graduate from the slow old #1 chair to "the Poma" as any Holiday veteran will verify. "It never feels right when we remove a piece of Holiday Mountain history but when one chapter closes - another begins.“ Plans are to reopen the trails on the North side of the property in a couple / few years along ..read more
