Take a walk down any haircare aisle and you’ll be bombarded with shampoo and conditioner in plastic bottles. Problem is, plastic is made from crude oil, aka fossil fuels. If we’re going to solve the climate crisis, we need to get off fossil fuels ASAP. Plus, plastic is only recycled 5-6% of the time. So one big thing we can do to reduce out carbon footprint (and waste) is to switch to shampoo and conditioner bars! This cuts down on so much excessive packaging. Thing is, not all shampoo and conditioner bars are created equal. I’ve heard horror stories of people being left with waxy hair after u ..read more

Chocolate cake is such a classic dessert. I love making it for birthdays and celebrations of all kinds. Recently, I used the base recipe (listed below) to create a two layered cake with strawberry jam in between. I just split the batter between two pans! Super easy. And, yes, it can be a completely zero waste cake if you get all the ingredients in bulk. Even better yet, do what I did and top it with fresh farmers market berries! So delicious. Here ..read more

It’s an initial investment up front, but they truly pay for themselves in the end. If I’m having a heavier flow, I can just pair them up with reusable period pads and get double the coverage. Here are the best period underwear on the market – and why you should consider making the switch if you haven’t yet!

Having a zero waste dental routine is not difficult. After making a few simple swaps, you’ll never want to go back. If you didn’t know by now, I have a dental assistant for a mom, so I’ve always been on top of my dental hygiene. My last visit to the dentist was just one month ago and I have no cavities or problems (thank goodness) so I can attest to my routine working! I also have found flossing on the daily helps me bleed SO much less when getting my teeth cleaned by my hygienist. It makes a world of difference!
