Year of the Dragon Art Prints Read more about the inspiration behind my dragon art prints. Sleepy Water Dragon Art Illustration Print “Water Dragon” was the first dragon I created for a little girl’s nursery room.  The original colors are purple and green, but I changed the colors digitally and prefer the red version.  Both colors are available as prints. Colorful Blue Goodnight Dragons Art Print The night time dragon scene was created using printed trees and unused dragons from another one of my collages, “Woodland Walk”.  I used watercolor painted papers for the rocks and a v ..read more

Why I Use an Artist Critique Group

5 Reasons Why I Attend a Regular Art Critique  Education – One of the main reasons I like my art critique group is because I learn so much.  We share resources, tips, and ideas every week.  We connect each other with the tools we need to be more successful artists. Socializing and Networking – Most artists are pretty isolated.  We work in our studio all day and sometimes don’t see or talk to anyone for hours or days.  It can be very lonely at times.  Meeting with like-minded artists is a great way to break the studio monotony.  Many of us also don’t hav ..read more

How Will AI Art Change My Career? You might be asking yourself this question.  Will corporations hire less artists in the future?  Most likely.  Will they pay us even less?  Most likely.  So then what is the point of making art in the age of AI or going to school for art?  I definitely don’t have the answers, but wanted to share a list of how I think artists might be able to stay relevant in the age of AI (artificial intelligence created) Art. People will still want to wear unique, artist and designer-made jewelry and clothing. Mural painting, especially on a rou ..read more

Book List for Artists Seeking Art Careers When I was in college there weren’t a lot of books to read regarding how to be a professional artist and how to run your art business, etc…  I was left on my own, not having any direction in college about it either.  I felt I either had to be an art teacher, independently wealthy, really lucky or all of the above in order to have a career making art.  So, I graduated and headed into the corporate world.  Fast forward 10 years later, I was able to stay home with my son and started working on my art again during nap times.  It&nb ..read more

Sound of Music Inspired Wall Art Prints When I was a young, I loved going to my grandma’s house.  Most often she liked to relax by reading in her chair, but occasionally she would watch programs on public tv.  One of the movies we used to watch when we visited was The Sound of Music with Julie Andrews.  The story and songs left a big impression on me as a child.  It’s still one of my favorite musicals.  Being heavily influenced by nature and music, it was only a matter of time before I created art inspired by some of my favorite music. Here is the set of four prints ba ..read more

Zoom Art Classes for Children Focus on Nature Artist Laura Lynne was raised a nature lover.  Her parents often took their family on an array of outdoor activities including camping, fishing, rock climbing, etc…  Laura also spent a lot of time at her maternal grandparents small hobby farm with outdoor hammock naps, apple picking in fall, and nature walks to collect wildflower bouquets for Grandma.  (I know now not to pick wildflowers, but it’s fun to recreate one of my childhood memories in an artwork.) She spent summer days observing the bugs and squirrels in her yard, catching ..read more

Check Out This Happy Cat Mural in Naperville, Illinois by Artist Laura Lynne So, I wanted to wait to show you this cat mural until I had some nice, professional photos to share. However, I finished painting just before quarantine and I wasn’t able to coordinate with my photographer (Amy Nelson Photography in Aurora. Check her out. She’s fantastic!) to get out to the house in time. However, since this quarantine is going on forever, I felt I should share this now. Then, when you see how amazing it looks when Amy takes photos of it, you can enjoy the cute cat paintings with better lighting all o ..read more

Dragonfly Art and Change

On one of my trips to Wisconsin I laid on a hammock and looked up at many dragonflies zipping around at a fast pace to catch insects.  I see them on ponds and watched them gliding over the water and resting on lily pads while canoeing in northern Wisconsin. The dragonfly is a symbol of changing direction in your life.  This piece was commissioned by someone who’s mother was going through a major life change.  Here is the finished commission piece I completed in 2015. Dragonfly, Mixed Media, 2015 Clients responded to this piece so much that I went on to edit it and change the col ..read more
