Looking for some feedback. Taking the Spring CHT exam soon and would like any last minute study tips? Also for anyone that took the Live conference practice exams, if you don’t mind me asking, how did you do? I believe they were typically harder than the actual exam but I wanted to see if I should be concerned as I still have not passed one Thanks in advance for your help! submitted by /u/CHTprep37 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I have the opportunity to do a reflex integration course and to do research regarding its use in the school setting basically . The course is 1500 dollars though and I am wondering if anyone has done a hefty course in reflex integration or if I should just save my money and not do it lol submitted by /u/Tricky-Ad1891 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hey everyone! You may have seen me asking some questions on here before. Essentially my cofounder and I are building a study tool specifically for students with ADHD. We are adding a collaboration feature in so that when a student is struggling with a task (lets say they have an essay due) - they can invite their OT, disability advisor or accountability buddy into the task and that person can add subtasks/comments to help them break it up into smaller chunks. The feature is set up like a calendar however, you can access tasks and edit them etc (like a to-do list). We are needing some help as ..read more

how much mentorship is normal for a new practitioner in pediatrics with no/minimal experience? how much time is reasonably expected for education outside of work, and how do you manage both working and self-directed learning to feel ethically okay in your role? without giving too much personal detail I am struggling, so much... submitted by /u/lotus-blossoms [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello! First of all, im from eu, so my English might be off. I finished my degree and have been looking for work since. Tomorrow I have an interview for an OT position in the neuro ward at the local hospital. My last internship was in the same hospital, but in the geriatric ward. I have done neuro rehab as an internship before that too. Among other things, but those Arent relevant to this position. How do I prepare? I really really want this job, so I want to stand out! But in past interviews, I have been bad at selling myself, because I dont have that much confidence as an OT yet. As a newly ..read more

What questions should I ask while job shadowing an OT?

I plan to ask about what I can do now to prepare me for the program, burnout, job satisfaction, if they can leave work at work, and compensation (if the vibes are right). What other questions should I ask as a student? Edit: obv I’m not going to straight out say “so how much do you get paid?” I’m going to follow them around and learn about their day to day routine and gain insight as I observe. If I successfully build a positive rapport with them by the end of the day I can ask the nitty gritty details in a low key and respectful way. Also my situation is a little different from average becau ..read more

Good day everyone. I’ll explain my situation. I’m a 38 year old male, nontraditional student. I used to be a SPED teacher for 7 years. I’m a recent grad from NSU and I’ve moved back to my home state of Louisiana so I no longer live in Florida. I’ve had my license in hand for nearly 3 weeks now. A large portion of my cohort has jobs already. I’ve been applying to a good amount of jobs, more than I can count. However, in my area, there are not that many openings at the moment. Which I find odd. I use sites like indeed. I’ve had two in person interviews and one said they’ve went with another per ..read more

Any pathway for OTs to contribute to web accessibility?

I'm a prospective student and the more I learn about the profession the more versatile I find it to be. I'm not basing my decision of whether to study OT on this but as I was very interested in web accessibility when I was looking into careers in user experience, I wonder if there are opportunities for OTs to branch out to contribute to digital accessibility (maybe consultancy/part time work, etc)? submitted by /u/practicerm_keykeeper [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
