Detecting and measuring residual magnetism is central to process technology. Maurer Magnetic presents the well-established and widely used measuring devices, M-Test LL, for measuring residual magnetism. The consistent implementation of the measurement provides the basis for controlling processes in industrial applications that suffer from unwanted magnetic influences. Maurer Magnetic also has extremely powerful demagnetization processes to remove residual magnetism from all kinds of parts and assemblies. We look forward to seeing you at our exhibition stand, Hall 7, Stand 7005. Der Beitrag Con ..read more

Residual magnetism is problematic for many processes in manufacturing or machine operation. Magnetized components can be responsible for many malfunctions: – contamination during cleaning – high noise in sensor signals – welding beam deflection, especially during electron beam welding – sticking together of parts during separation – erosion of sliding and rolling ball bearings – wear on sintering and punching tools – coating defects during chrome plating The list is not exhaustive and shows that residual magnetism can be a relevant cause for undesirable phenomena in various processes. Parts2Clean 2022

Maurer Magnetic presents itself at this year’s parts2clean under the motto “Magnetically pure”. Cleaning ferromagnetic components without demagnetizing them can work. However, demagnetization not only speeds up the cleaning process, it is usually indispensable when a desired level of cleanliness is required. Because too high residual magnetism values are often the cause of particle adhesion, which leads to insufficient cleaning. DF, the new generation of power modules from Maurer Magnetic, are specially designed for washing machine use: Compact, robust, splash-proof. On the booth we show, our ..read more

Adhesive force calculation of magnets

Holding forces of permanent magnets are usually specified only under ideal conditions: at 20°C and with direct contact of the magnet to the holding surface. In a real application, however, this is not the case. The actual temperature is often higher and the magnet does not lie directly on the holding surface, e.g. because of its own coating. If the magnet is supposed to hold a thick sheet of paper or a cardboard, the distance to the holding surface increases additionally and the holding force of the magnet decreases strongly with an increasing distance. Use our magnets calculator to find out h ..read more

Demagnetization of tungsten carbides

Carbide parts can be magnetized in production as well as in operation. In the following application report the demagnetization of carbide is considered. To demagnetize hard metal, which mostly consists of tungsten carbide with cobalt as binder, very high field strengths of often more than 200 kA/m (250 mT / 2500 Gauss) are required. However, a reduction of the residual magnetism is also possible with lower field strengths. We have many years’ experience in the area of magnetization. Magnetizing plants have been delivered, for instance, to IBM USA, SMH Biel and Weidmann Rapperswil. These are almost always special machines which are specifically designed and manufactured for the customer. We have recently brought onto the market the magnetizing machine MPA 400, with integrated testing for very small magnets. MAGNETIZER MPA400 Process-reliable magnetizing of small magnets, with high throughput rates. Features: Type: Magnetizing yoke (effective area 10 x 10 mm; air gap 3…10 mm; up to 2.5 tesla field strength) M ..read more
