Magnetic Filter using Separator Bars

We recently worked with an engineering company on a project requiring a magnetic rotor fitted with magnetic filter, in the form of a separator bar. The rotor was to be used in a milk production plant to collect any metal contaminants that may have entered the milk production process. As you can see from the photo the unit we manufactured was dropped and a fine hair line fracture can be seen in the middle bar. Unfortunately these are difficult to repair and warrant remanufacturing. AMF Magnetics can supply most types of magnetic separation equipment. We hold a large range of magnetic filter an ..read more

Magnets are quite extraordinary. Imagine, a special sort of rock that can stick to some things but not others, and sticks to itself one way but pushes apart the other. It's actually pretty weird when you think about it, and in Australia - at least - we take them for granted. But not if you're a disadvantaged child growing up in Africa. Most of these kids have never experienced magnetism. AMF Magnetics have teamed up with my project Science Circus Africa, a travelling science education project, to take magnets deep into sub-Saharan Africa. A postcard from Dr Graham Walker in Zimbabwe The look o ..read more

Your choice of Magnet will largely depend on what your application is. What is the operating temperature? Will the magnet be used in liquid or in an environment with high moisture levels? Some points to consider include are: If the magnet is being used for holding or lifting something, what pull force do you require? What is the operating temperature? How far does the magnet need to operate, i.e. distance of the magnetic field? Will the magnet be used in liquid or in an environment with high moisture levels? Does the magnet need to be flexible? Use the table below to determine which Type of ..read more
