Our Annual Dedication to the Art of Beer Blending The Crows has been a special release to us for several years now, and one that showcases the art behind our barrel-aged beer program. Each winter before The Crows makes its annual reappearance, our innovation manager Thor Stoddard periodically tastes samples from many barrels, takes notes on their favorable characteristics as well as their potential to boost or balance particular aromas and flavors. And because the elements in the final blend change from year to year, no two vintages are the same. To create this year’s vintage, Thor select ..read more

On the day we opened Reuben’s Brews back in the summer of 2012, we had five beers on tap. In spite of the August heat, one of those beers quickly found favor with the friends, neighbors, and craft beer enthusiasts who turned up for our public debut: Robust Porter. It’s remained in our lineup ever since, and is now one of our five everyday favorites available year-round. Last weekend in Denver the judges at the Great American Beer Festival also chose it as one of their favorites, awarding this beer a silver medal in the Robust Porter category. We’re incredibly proud of this achievement, especia ..read more

5-Barrel Brewery and Taproom Space for Sale in Ballard
Reuben's Brews Blog

Nestled in the heart of Ballard at 14th Avenue and 53rd Street, this location has all the brewing equipment installed and ready to go and is the perfect space for an entrepreneurial brewer looking to plant their flag in a nationally recognized brewery district and set up their own brewery and taproom. After an award-winning homebrewing career, co-founder Adam Robbings wanted a place where Reuben’s Brews could grow into its own. “This space had everything we needed to brew beers of the highest quality and connect directly with our customers,” says Robbings.  In August 2012, Reuben’s B ..read more

Reuben's Brews Blog

In the world of beer, as with anything else in life, styles come and go. What might be all the rage today isn’t necessarily going to be what people want tomorrow. The same is true of IPAs, a broad category that’s been in the spotlight for a few decades now. Black IPAs were cool until they weren’t. The same was true of Belgian IPA. And a few years ago Brut IPA got its 15 minutes of fame, too. Then there’s the West Coast IPA, a style that is seeing a resurgence after falling out of fashion. In Ballard we pride ourselves on our draft selection, but there are some beers you’ll always find on tap ..read more
