There is a point in a hooper's life when just going to class or learning tricks on instagram is no longer enough. That moment comes at different times for everyone, but even if you haven't yet felt the urge, you have to read this. I am sharing this with you because I believe everyone should experience living and breathing hoops with their hoop family at least once in a lifetime. When it comes to attending international (or just larger) hoop events, I am still a newb. However, my first experience of this kind has left a huge circle-shaped imprint on my soul and I'd love for you to experience th ..read more

Hi hoopers! It's a quiet Monday afternoon and this time, I am sitting at my desk, ticking things off my to-do list and waiting for my energy to make a come-back. I've had a fun and productive few weeks and have emerged from a sofa-bound weekend, ready to get back into the swing of things. We have 2 weeks left of our course, and one last wonderful guest to welcome to class: Ayoyinka Ololade, Personal Trainer (AND final year medical student!). For those of you who don't know, I started strength training at home during the first lockdown and, in April 2021 I started going to the gym regularly. In ..read more

Hi hoopers! It's 10.19pm on Sunday and I'm sitting in bed, wrapped in my warm gown, bowl of mushroom pasta next to me, trying to fight the symptoms of a cold that hit me 48 hours before my flight to Turkey. I've got to finish writing a whole workshop and write this blog, and I'm bouncing between feeling uber-excited and congested Excited - because on the day of our return to the studio, Cristina, my friend and massage therapist, will be joining us to share her gift with us. 10 minutes with Cristina I met Cristina about 3-4 years ago, when I was running the Planet Hoop free workshops at the Dep ..read more

I have always wanted to run my sessions in a mirrored dance studio and the Moonshot Centre in New Cross, London, has one of the very best! Being able to familiarise yourself with your own body in motion is empowering and invites in growth. How to enjoy and make the most out of having a mirror in your hoop dance class: ❤️ don't be shy looking at yourself, you are amazing and beautiful and that hoop looks great on you check in with yourself occasionally to improve your posture or synchronise with the other hoopers use it to see your instructor's movement better, especially if you're standing at ..read more

I was going to write this post in October but life got in the way. When I was in Romania last month, I took my mum to a small resort town for a massage. It's her birthday in a few days and because I won't be there with her, I wanted to spoil her. I got myself one too, obvi! :D I WENT FOR AN HOUR-LONG DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE! Oh girl, how it broke me! But I absolutely loved it (and needed it!) and even though some areas of my back were sore for about 2 days after, I've been dreaming about another one since. I have an office job too, that requires sitting at my desk most of the time, typing and usi ..read more

Hey, hoopers! I am over the moon to be returning to the Planet Hoop blog today, a sunny and slightly humid September morning. This season's 6-week Hoop Dance Course will commence in less than 3 weeks and I am keen to introduce the first of 3 special guests who join us this Autumn and kindly share their gifts with us. 10 minutes with Stella I asked Stella (and all our guests) to take the floor for the last 10 minutes of our hoop class (usually dedicated to a cool-down) to introduce herself and take us through an exercise or two that relates to our hoop practice. While the exercise remains a sur ..read more

Summer time means bare legs. Bare legs means leg hooping. Read for tips!!! first and foremost, yes those legs deserve to be out in the sun! They are beautiful, strong and they take you places. Hula hooping is not a fad. Humans have danced in and with circles since the beginning of time, for a plethora of reasons and purposes. The hoop carries the universal symbolism of the circle, be it cosmic infinity, the perfection of being, the natural cycles or the notions of totality, enlightenment and God. These concepts are pillars of the human cultures all around the world and ancient interpretations of everything we know, as well as what we don't. It comes to no surprise that in 2020 (a beautiful, round number), an overwhelming number of people have decided to join the magic. The circle i ..read more
