You can get a 1kg chicken wings from Aldi which is approximately 32 chicken wings for only £1.59! And all the other ingredients you need are very simple that you probably have them already. So why not trying make them yourself? I’ve noticed the fried chicken in the UK has slightly different style of batter than the ones I had in Taiwan in general. #AD / The OG of Pies

Pies are one of my staple fridge items as they are great for either a quick lunch or dinner by throwing some extra bits together, and Holland’s pies are the brand I always go for if I spot them. I have known about Holland’s pies since I came to the UK as I was told it’s the best pie you can get from the supermarkets.  To celebrate 170th birthday for Holland’s, I decided to go for a proper Northern styled snack – the Wigan kebab which is a barm cake with a pie inside and you can also add some mushy peas or chips if you want something extra. It was created since it ..read more

Manchester Local Hidden Gem – The Fisherman’s Retreat

My latest find with amazing traditional British cuisine in Ramsbottom, Manchester I’ve been on a local pubs/restaurants hunt around Manchester and is my latest hidden gem discovery. It’s located in Ramsbottom and there are some reservoirs and farms near by which are perfect for a mini day trip to have a wander. The trickiest part of getting to this place is that you have to drive through quite a narrow single lane which I was super nervous about as I was worried I went down the wrong route. However the food was totally worth it, and I wish I lived closer. There is plenty of parking space in fr ..read more

#AD / Easy Air Fryer Kimchi Bun – Vegetarian Recipe
Food Junkie UK

I rarely cook meat free dishes, so I was excited to work with Quorn to create a new recipe using their meat free mince. It turned out to be a really great substitute for pork mince, and it’s an easy and straightforward recipe to try. The texture is very similar to an actual pork bun, and with the right seasoning you can’t really tell the difference.  This recipe is perfect for someone who wants to try some meat free recipes or if you are looking to try some new recipes with your air fryer. It’s also really easy to reheat the buns, you can either put them into an air fryer or simply pan fr ..read more

Pork belly is one of the meat I like to cook the most in my recipe, because you can make either a quick stir fry dish like sticky belly pork or a slow braised pork depending on how much time you have and your mood! ⠀ The recipe today is something super easy and quick that you can make it after work. You can eat it with some rice or noodles if you like. It’s also quite a guilt free dish since you don’t need to use any oil on this, but only use the natural fat from the pork belly! Stir Fry Sticky Pork Belly S. H. Pork belly is one of the meat I like to cook the most in my recipe, because you ..read more

Nothing can beat a proper burrito and Margaritas! S visited Luck Lust Liquor & Burn long time ago and wasn’t very impressed. Yet S has now changed her mind after the time she visited this year. Luck Lust Liquor & Burn is located in Northern Quarter which is quite close to Yard & Coop. The outside of the restaurant isn’t too obvious but it’s not too hard to find either. You can find their menu on their website and Luck Lust Liquor & Burn is also owned by Almost Famous so they share some similar menu options. Besides the standard menu, Luck Lust Liquor & Burn also has a Taco ..read more

A cosy and lively pub at the heart of Burton Road! S has heard some of the history about The Metropolitan, apparently it was quite rough with cock fighting and drug use a long time ago. However, The Metropolitan now is a lofty pub with some nice interior and outdoor drinking area. The Metropolitan is close to Burton Road tram station which is only 2 minutes walk distance. There are some great places to eat on Burton Road, such as Rustik, Another Heart to Feed and Volta etc. It is quite spacious in The Metropolitan, and the inside of The Met is like a traditional pub with a few fancy touche ..read more

A truly hidden gem for some authentic dim sum in Manchester There are so many good Cantonese restaurants in Manchester that are hidden in China Town. Since they all look similar from the outside or are buried inside old buildings, S only goes to the ones that recommended by her Hong Kongese friends. S has introduced Mei Dim and Happy Seasons before, of which Mei Dim is specialised in dim sum while Happy Seasons is focused on Cantonese roast. However, the one S is introducing now, Jade City, has the best of both worlds! The entrance on the street is easy to find. However, the restaurant is on ..read more
