Would anyone with access to a Scott G be willing to measure the dimensions for the grip? Preferably with a set of digital calipers? I'm playing with some grip shapes, and the cork in the higher line weights looks interesting. I'm interested in the lower weight dimensions too, but the larger grip is most interesting. Thanks in advance ..read more

I would like to reinforce a ferrule of on of my fly rods. I was hoping to put a few wraps of sheet shite around the ferrule with resin. Does anyone know a source to buy "sheet graphite" ( if that is the correct term)? I am not looking for "sheet graphite that is like carbon paper (for transfering images or writing. I am looking for fiberous graphite sheet that is used in the manufacturing of rolling over/around a mandrell. Don't need 3-4" wide and long, ideally maybe 4-6" wide... graphite sheet source ..read more

I recently finished the 590c and most of the 690g. I found the 590c brand new from a reputable dealer online with a stroke of luck as it is discontinued. Epic 690g - I used an Alps Rak7 reel seat, 12 and 10 torzite stripping guides, snake light wire ECOating snake guides. I put a fighting butt on as well, looking to do a bit of streamer fishing for bass and large dry flies with this rod. Epic 590c - REC Amboyna burl reel seat, size 12 torzite stripping guide, light wire ECOating snakes... Epic 590c and 690g ..read more

I have been wanting to build an 8 foot one weight for sometime now. Finally got around to doing it. the cork is a mix of purchased burl cork that i trimmed thinner. the remainder is champagne cork cut to @ .5”. garrison slide hardware on a burl pen blank turned down on my drill motor lathe. my first time using single foot guides. wont be doing that again. sheesh what a pain. i still need to sign it etc but its fishable as is. and a shameless pic of a bluegill caught on lunchbreak today... 8’ 1wt finished ..read more

Just finishing up my Burkenhimer 489, I realized the single best way I could boost its performance. It's the label! Scientifically Proven: As much as I liked this design, our legal team cast doubt on our testing methodologies and advised against it. So I came up with something I liked even better: Again, our legal team got involved. They said the claim was factually incorrect. We consulted R&D who confirmed it... Love the Label, Hate the Rod? Came in at 3.2 oz. balances about 1 inch back from front end of grip with my reel. Used standard stripping guide, then single foot guides and last guide before tip is a snake. Got the grip and butt from NFC - the grip was inletted so I had to use an uplocking seat - worked out OK as I was able to mess with weighting so I ended up with decent balance point. Used black/white tiger thread at the ferrules - I think it goes well with the carbon weave. Hope to try it out on Wednesday. [ATTACH... Just finished NFC 11' 2 wt ..read more
