Having just completed a (reasonably) successful refurbishment of the handle on my Grey's spinning rod, I'm thinking of building a 12' #7 to fit between my switch rod and 13' #8. Bloke only seem to do a 12' #6 but Taniwha offer a 12' #6/7 at a very reasonable price. Apparently Taniwha service the UK via Mark Williams in Salisbury. Their website provides good information on action, casting weight, guide spacing etc. Does anyone have any experience of the company and their blanks ..read more

This is one of my 11ft 6/7 weight 5 piece switch rods. They are my favourite rods of all. They put a smile on my face every time I use mine they are that easy to use. Ive used black thunder cactus dark cork with blue highlights and blue rubberised cork for the handles and fitted a black down locking Alps reel seat. This rod has been personalised with some Latin. It says Only the best will do apparently. [ATTACH... Read more ..read more

Just thought I'd start a thread on my very first rod build. Although I've never built a rod before I have decided to make all the jigs and fixtures and build the handle from scratch just to make things difficult for myself. . . . The goal is to make a half decent rod as cheaply as possible, mostly winging it and using common sense Its nowhere near finished so will just add to the thread as I go, maybe some of my daft ideas will help others, I've certainly learned a lot from... I love these rods. I was out last week with mine and was able to overhead cast most of the pool but as I got to the tail of the pool there were trees behind me so started Spey casting with it. It took a couple casts to adjust then I was casting as far as I was overhead casting with it. I was very impressed as it’s only a 10ft single hander. Further down the pool there were bushes around my feet so I started using the snap t so my anchor was further out. Again I was able to put out a great... Read more ..read more

My new (second hand rod's top eye popped off, must have hit it with the fly. The rod is not damaged at all and the eye slides back on perfect. My question of you rod builders is.. What would you recommend I stick it back on with. Superglue scares me as it may set before I get it snugged down on the shoulder. Any advice appreciated ..read more

I really like this rod and I’m not a huge fan of green. Its a 10’6” 15g-45g. I’ve used all burnt cork with bright green highlights and a chunky dark titanium Alps reel seat with green rubberised cork for butt tops/bottom. This is the first rod with my new logo and custom decals. A big thanks to Snapt14 for helping me with them. [ATTACH... Read more ..read more
