Hi everyone. About to start a build on this 801L blank. This will be the 4th rod that I built, my previous build was the 10 suzki surf rod. I would like to build this as a casting rod for a bait caster. Ive never built a casting rod. Does anybody have a guideline for how many guides I should use as well as the size? Thanks ..read more

I have a bunch of rods that have my name on them with a brother P touch label that appears to be flex coated over. I want to sell them and I’m thinking of trying to remove the label. Is that something that is easy to do? Can I just heat up the flex coat with a heat gun and remove it ..read more

I’ve got a Lamiglas GSB 1 piece skinner rod that needs a rebuild. Slipped in a nor’easter and rod went flying. Thought it was just one broken guide, but it’s time to pull them all off.
I liked the rod as is, but I was thinking of rebuilding it with a more modern layout. Any suggestions on what guides I should start with? It will be paired with a vsx200 ..read more

Something I've always wanted to try - going to give it a go.
BUT...now I'm thinking:
Do you lay out your normal spacing, and do a smaller pattern while running a second pattern mid-way between?
OR do you skip spacing, running a pattern on say your 1st, 3rd, 5th mark?

I'm replacing a 14 inch section of cork with new. The butt end obviously. Cork section is on order.

Still have half a bottle of Brilliance II that I've been using....forever since I started building I guess.
Its looking a bit thick....somewhere between water and syrup.
If I remember correctly, CP is water based, no? Can I add some water to get it back to what it was?

Two years ago, I bought a custom honey lami tog rod second hand. How could I determine which blank was used, what cuts were made?
want to list the rod for sale, but don’t know how to determine the specifics, like blank, size tip, style of guide placement (9+tip) etc.
