Pool refill (Levolor).

I have a pool levolor (about 22 years old). They are $600 to replace but I’m not sure if it’s gone or something else. I cut off the level sensor inside the pipe as it look corroded anyway. I would need a new one! The pipe has water in it going up and down with the water level as expected. The green light is always on even after cutting the wires (and joining them together). The filling light never comes on. I’m sure there are better/cheaper solutions now (I was thinking of a WiFi plug connected to a 12v output to the relay to just top up remotely (when I am traveling) but would love to be abl ..read more

Is $2500 installed a fair price for a Pentair IC40 with Power Center?

Opening my pool for the first time this May since purchasing a home. Looking to switch over to a salt water based chlorine system for easier maintenance and a better swim. My pool guy wants $2500 for the Pentair IC40 with Power Center installed. Is this a fair price? I originally mentioned going with a RJ45 as that's one I seen on this sub a lot. But he says he installs the Pentairs as they are "bullet proof" and recommended the IC40. Just want to make sure it's a good unit, I'm getting a fair price, and not getting ripped off. submitted by /u/Golden_Diablo [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Add Hot Tub and Shelf

I'm considering adding a hot tub and shelf into the existing pool, reducing the swim area. Basically using the left half of the pic as area for the shelf and hot tub. I plan on doing it myself. Anyone done anything like this? I previously talked to pool modifcation companies and was told to rip it all out and start over. Seems crazy to me. https://preview.redd.it/wxujq1k2inwc1.jpg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a3a93ee0da52323a6d942210b24a67743457fc76 submitted by /u/CryptoHopeful2022 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

TR100 filter lifespan

Our setup is about 20 years old and normally we get the sand in this filter replaced every 5 years. Last year though this company said that this whole filter needs to be replaced given the age. Does this make sense? I know it’s 20 years old but replacing sand is a lot cheaper than having the filter replaced. submitted by /u/Low-Fun-4769 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Whether to clean tile or not

I’m getting my pool refilled soon to kick off the season, and I’m just trying to figure out if paying to get the tile cleaned is worth it. So my questions, what are the drawbacks to not getting it cleaned (there is visible scaling)? Is the professional approach any better than a DYI? Is it better to clean it when the pool is empty, or can I do it at anytime after I open the pool? Thanks for the advice and help! submitted by /u/eastewart [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I have a 24ft above ground pool. Currently there is sand under the old liner. Is it worth it to put down foam board insulation over the sand? submitted by /u/Rad_Golfer70 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
