I'm trying to open four PDFs in Preview, send them to one of the secondary monitors, and tile them in quarters. Sounds easy, but Shortcuts can't do it, even thought it looks like it should.

After a public disclosure in December, Apple has issued a firmware update for the Magic Keyboard to block a security flaw that allowed an attacker to enter keystrokes through a cloned keyboard connection.

The now-patched vulnerability was disclosed to Apple and Google in August 2023, and disclosed publicly in December by security researcher Marc Newlin. At the time, Newlin said he had been investigating and then reporting unauthenticated Bluetooth keystroke-injection vulnerabilities in macOS and iOS for months.

Apple has rolled out its third developer beta of macOS Sonoma 14.3, which can be installed onto Macs for testing.

Developers participating in the test program can get the latest build by visiting the Apple Developer Center or by updating Macs running the beta to the newest edition. Public beta versions are usually available via the Apple Beta Software Program not long after the developer versions are released.

Just before the CES festivities kick off, Dell has rolled out a pair of large-format curved displays, with one running at 5K and 120Hz off a single Thunderbolt cable.

Dell's first monitor released on Thursday is the 40-inch 5K U4025QW display. It has a 120Hz refresh rate, with a 5120x2160 resolution on a curved screen, and a built-in ambient light sensor adjusts screen brightness. Dell also says that it reduces blue light exposure with a more advanced LED backlight than the previous 5K display it discontinued long ago.

Ok I have a question on Sonoma and what apple has done to how older/legacy apple ID’s like mine (the ones that had login name vs email login name like the newer iCloud ones). All my subscriptions, software and media purchases (and upgrades have always been through my legacy login name old Apple ID. This has worked well and the old legacy seems to sit under the umbrella of our iCloud account Apple ID for several years.
