And now for another skewering review of an old B-movie: The War of the Gargantuas! Anyone else detecting a message here? Who are the Gargantuas? Think hard. This is another one of those Japanese movies where the atom bomb (most likely) has created a monster. Well, actually two monsters, but the first one is readily dispatched by the second one. (And, actually, there is a third monster.) We open with a view of a toy boat being tossed about in a darkened bathroom the tub of a darkened bathroom. Then it turns into a big boat with a real guy steering it over the crashing waves. Next thing you kno ..read more

We are back with Part Two of a movie in a language so much like Spanglish, I can’t even begin to describe it. In any case, here we are. And here’s Part Two of Incubus from 1966. Right before Star Trek (the original Web 0.0 version) went on the air. Right? Okay, then. Enjoy! And consider joining the cool kids who support this continuing madness effort on Patreon ..read more

‘The Devil’s Rain’ (1975) (B-Movie Review) — Part Three

And now for the final part of this B-movie review! Oh, the horror! Things get even uglier when Ernie Corbis puts on a weird mask with goat horns sticking out from it like (slightly bent, thick, and twisted) antennae. “I can’t believe I once won an Oscar.” (Image via Trashmen Media) Then, they get weirder when they find a big jug with Corbis’ souls trapped within it. A big, glass jug with metallic scrollwork (I guess) holding it together that also contains its own internal atmosphere, including weather fronts, because the forecast is always for rain. The situation appears grim as Mark ends u ..read more

It’s time for another of my multi-part B-movie reviews. Away we go! This movie is such an interesting combination of horror and insipid writing that it boggles the mind when you consider the sheer star power behind this … weird thing. Let’s put it this way. The movie opens. It’s dark, it’s rainy … but that’s after the credits. The positively grotesque credits displayed with the work of Hieronymus Bosch in the background. Image via The Movie Sleuth. So after extended credits (featuring such delightful images as a demonic-looking creature defecating coins), we see that it’s night and it’s dar ..read more

My Review of ‘Beat the Devil’ (1953)

Hi! Today, I’m reviewing Beat the Devil from 1953, which is probably one of the most bizarre movies I’ve ever seen. Actually, I’ve actually seen more bizarre movies than this, but I won’t go into that. It is pretty bizarre though. It stars Humphrey Bogart and was directed by John Huston and bears a striking resemblance to The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, and a few other movies that you could think of from around that period. I’m wondering if it’s because Huston came in there with a mindset to make a sequel. I don’t know. He kind of claims it was a spoof, but that’s kind of after the fact. Act ..read more

Time once again for another part of this fascinating example of a weirdly feminist cult movie, assuming that psychotic strippers are feminist. So … on with the show! PS: Not to be confused with Josie and the Pussycats ..read more

Okay, this is a rerun recut version of my first stab at doing one of these. I’m shocked amazed fairly pleased with my narration, actually. I seem to recall it being much worse than it is. Anyway, maybe I’ll give narration another try. Maybe. The premiere of Part One of Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! will start at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time. PS: Happy Fourth of July! Enjoy the socially-distant fireworks! If you’d like to see the original, it’s here! It’s pretty much the same with a slightly different intro ..read more
