A 15-year-old boy was killed Monday evening after being hit by a minivan in Pembroke Pines.
Authorities said the accident happened as the teen was riding his bike along Pines Boulevard.
The female driver was making a right-hand turn out of Westfork Plaza when she struck the teen.
Police say the boy was dragged about 30 feet. First responders arrived at the scene and were able to lift the vehicle off the boy.
He was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital where he later died.

In the latest year recorded there were 857 pedal cyclist deaths, representing 2.3 percent of all traffic fatalities during the year.
Seventy-nine percent of pedalcyclists deaths in 2018 occurred in urban areas as opposed to rural areas (21%).
Alcohol was involved – either for the motor vehicle driver or for the pedalcyclist – in 37 percent of all fatal pedalcyclist crashes in 2018.

A 56-year-old Boynton Beach man was arrested in Collier County after he struck a bicyclist and didn’t stop, troopers say.
Florida Highway Patrol said Michael Moncada, 56, was heading west on Davis Boulevard, attempting to enter a plaza when his SUV collided with the 46-year-old male cyclist from Naples. The crash happened just before midnight.
Authorities said the cyclist was thrown from his bike and taken to Lee Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
Moncada continued into the plaza, exited his vehicle, and entered his room at the Red Roof Inn.

A motorcyclist was transported to the hospital after slamming into the back of a Jeep.
According to witnesses at the scene, two bikers were speeding and weaving in and out of traffic on Cape Coral Parkway before one of them hit the back of a Jeep.
The biker that hit the Jeep suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Lee Memorial Trauma Center.
The westbound lanes of Cape Coral Parkway were closed as officers with the Cape Coral Police Department investigate the crash.

One person suffered serious injuries in an evening crash that occurred in the Arlington Area, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.
Authorities said crews responded to the scene of the accident involving a vehicle and a bicycle.
Officials with the JFRD said the crash happened on Galveston Avenue and Lamson Street.
One person has been transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators did not reveal what caused the accident and the identity of the injured, but stated that the incident remains under investigation.
