Do you like using gradients in your design? I like them at times but they can look pretty bad if done in the wrong situation. I had someone request a logo and specifically told me NO gradients. I offered some designs and he went with someone else...who used gradients.  ..read more

How did you learn graphic design? I went to art school and we learned design so that we could get a job once we graduated. Computers weren't popular yet so everything was done on boards. Once computers became the new thing, I jumped right onto it because my husband is IT and we've always had computers ever since we first got married over 30 years ago ..read more

Do you have a separate studio to do your designs? I've almost always had a room set up for my art and crafts except now I have my laptop in the family room. It helps me to be able to take quicker breaks and get back to it without feeling confined to one space.  ..read more

If people know me by now, they know I don't know coding. Can anybody put in layman terms how do you design? What does it entail? It may be something I, or even others, may want to dabble in if we knew more about it. I know for some, it comes easily. But, how about for those of us who don't know a thing. Where would we start? Do you have software you download? Sites you visit ..read more

When it's printed already, then ooops.  I designed a brochure for a company and didn't have a spell check on my computer at the time (I don't think they were even invented yet!) and after they were all printed I noticed the error. I was so embarrassed but even more embarrassed to bring it up. No one ever said anything to me about it and I still got paid ..read more

A logo should tell a story

I read that a logo should tell a story. It can be the history of the company, evoke a feeling, or just state what the business is about.  Which type of story should be used for a logo for a horror writer's convention? What elements would you use and not use? What gets overused with horror logos ..read more
