Spundig problem?

Thanks, I think I may buy another one or two, then I will be able to open them and investigate. I have a couple of them, one has  a sanitary tri clover end to fit on the fermenter, the other just a keg QD to attach to a corny keg. They are easy to build yourself but sometimes it's just more cost effective to buy them. When I get down to the brewery I will share some pictures. Category: Equipment ..read more

Hello guys, I had a problem today, I put on two Cornelius keg brews of Cider a few days ago, one of them went as expected, the other was showing no pressure on the spundig dial, so coming up on 72 hours I started an investigation, I thought, change spundig, a swap from the other brew, it turned out that the brew was under allot of pressure, but nothing showing, so somewhere between the spundig and the post was a block, the spundig is working fine now; one question is, if the spundig is fully wound down can it fully close and block all gas release? The problem I've found with spunding valves ..read more

Would it be worthwhile for cider brewing ?  If I remember correctly the MJ cider yeast will ferment from anywhere above 12°C up to 25°C.  Womble, if you recall the bath in the garage, it is still there, but I envisage buying a new angle grinder soon and the bath will most likely be one of its first Jobs. Turbo cider is never going to be excellent, it's dry fizzy and somewhat cider like.  If you are used to drinking commercial brews, particularly with fruit flavours, it's not going to happen.  I know on this side of cyber space, I don't particularly like the bottled fizzy alcoholic drinks that are on offer, they tend to be back sweetened and artificially flavoured, not a fan.     You need to leave the cider to ferment out fully before bottling and then you'll have to bottle it and wait up to two months for it to carb up and mellow out.  It'll be drinkable within a ..read more

How long in the bottle? Mine was crystal clear after 3 weeks, it normally floccs really well for me. Lots of hops in it?  Couple of weeks I think. It normally floccs well for me too. Hop tea, that can delay things a bit.  Category: Talk About Beer and Brewing ..read more
