Physical Ability vs Gear Weight
Predator Exclusives

The reality is predator hunting isn’t nearly as physically demanding as a backcountry sheep or elk hunt.  With that stated, to be the best predator hunter you can be, you must physically prepare.  We see the contrasts within our clients quite often, because those who are more physically capable tend to take more predators & have a more enjoyable hunting experience.  If you multiply 400 (steps/yards) x2x15 you will get the basic walking distance of 12,000 yards.  12,000 yards equates to 6.81 miles, which is about the average walking distance a good predator hunter will ..read more

As professional predator hunting guides we get the chance to see & use all sorts of predator hunting gear.  Outside of your predator hunting rifle, shotgun & calls the most critical piece of gear is a stable shooting platform. While tripods work great for standing & night vision hunting, we have found the best predator hunting bipods for seated daytime hunting are the ROKSTEDi P234 & P242.   The biggest downfall with most tradtional hunting bipods are they are not tall enough when sitting on side hills or stools.  ROKSTEDi’s standard bipod (P234)comes in ..read more

What’s the terrain look like on our guided coyote (predator) hunts? This is a question we get quite often & the answer can vary tremendously on our guided hunts. We are based in the high deserts of Arizona & the elevations we hunt are from 500-6,000 feet. Literally, we can be hunting the creosote grease wood flats with shotguns, but a few later we could be hunting large higher country meadows/prairies. The best way to describe the terrain we hunt is for you to watch this short guided coyote hunt video: Coyote hunting terrain on our guided hunts can vary quite drastically. The post Gui ..read more

You are going on a coyote hunt or getting into coyote hunting & you are wondering what caliber you should buy or use. We have some opinions on this as we have seen hundreds of coyotes shot, but first we must ask what’s your intent… are you hunting for furs, a mount or just for predator managment purposes?     6.5mm Creedmor for Coyote Hunting If you are hunting for strictly predator managment purposes the .243 Winchester, .6mm, 6.5mm Creedmor & other like calibers that are considered a bit on the HEAVY hitting side for coyote hunting will work great. These calibers will ..read more
