Just before 8 p.m. on recent Monday, New York police were contacted about a driver heading north in a southbound lane on Interstate 87. Police located the wrong-way driver and attempted a traffic stop. However, the driver apparently accelerated instead of stopping, which prompted a chase. A tragedy occurred on Christmas Eve morning on New York’s Upper East Side. Shortly before 10 a.m. a commercial truck jumped a curb and struck a fire hydrant. Before the vehicle hopped the curb, it also hit a pedestrian and a bicyclist who where in the crosswalk at the time.
