Happy Labor Day, friends! When you google the meaning of Labor Day this is what it says, “A national holiday created to honor the nation’s workers and their contributions to the wellbeing of the country.” Ok perfect, but some people might say that Labor Day to them means the end of summer, the start of football season, (Go Vols), Dove season, the start of everything pumpkin and Fall, or a three-day weekend! Woohoo! I had someone recently ask me how I liked being retired? I said what? I am far from retired; I work harder now than I ever have. Sure, I work from home, I don’t have to clock in o ..read more

November 1, the first day of the month, the month of Thanksgiving, and one of my favorite holidays. As I sat down this morning for my daily devotional, I thought ok this is a new month and for the next 30 days I am going to write down all that I am thankful for. Not that I am not thankful the rest of the months, but just something about November that gets you thinking more about what you are thankful for, plus y’all know I love to write, and journaling has become an everyday habit for me. As I get older and the years keep on passing by faster and faster, and the things that I was thankful for ..read more

July 17, 2022 Be kind, work hard, stay humble, smile often, stay loyal, be honest, travel when possible, never stop learning, love always. – unknown Time needs to slow down just a little bit don’t you think?? 2022 is half over and Summer is on the downhill, and I am not ready! Some schools will be starting back soon, that’s so crazy! What was wrong with starting after Labor Day and ending at Memorial Day? That’s how my generation went to school, and it worked out just fine!  As I look back on the first half of 2022, I realized how blessed we are. By the end of next week Danny and I wil ..read more

December 11, 2021 I saw a post last night that said, “Nothing says December in Tennessee like turning on your AC in December and staying up for a Tornado watch.” Yep, every bit of that is true, I turned the AC on and Danielle Breezy is probably tired from talking to me through my phone all night. Shew, it was a long night!  Pretty sure Danny got more sleep than me. I just don’t understand why these storms must come at night. I mean they are bad enough during the day. Kudos to the weather forecasters for keeping us informed and letting us know what’s going on. And prayers for all the ones ..read more

It’s been 5 years, 60 months, 260 weeks, 1826 Days, 43, 829 hours, 2,629,746 minutes, and 157,784,760 seconds since this adventure began. Can you believe it? Me either!! Yesterday I got to attend my hometown Church (Franklin First Methodist) and honor my mother for All Saint’s Day. Members of the Church who have passed away over the last year are remembered and a banner is decorated in their honor and displayed in the front of the Church for all to see. I was so honored to be able to make my mom’s banner I know she would have loved it!! As I sat there yesterday, I couldn’t help but remember i ..read more

On January 1, 2017, I wrote my first blog post for our website letting you all know about our adventure of opening Country Bark Boarding. Since then, I have written 25 blog posts, (you can read those on our website), but it has been a while since I have written anything because to be honest it’s just been hard to come up with anything I want to write about. Usually, my ideas just pop in my head at the oddest times (like 2 am and I get up and start writing) then when I get done, I would call my proofreader, my mom and read it to her and of course she would tell me how good it was and would alwa ..read more

How big is your kingdom's dream?

It was November 2016, and I was at Franklin First United Methodist Church sitting with my mom and the sermon was “How big is your kingdom's dream?” the answer to that question was Country Bark Boarding, and so the planning began. Fast forward 5 years and that dream is now a reality as you know.  But I could not have gotten to where I am today without one of my biggest supporters, my mom.  My mom passed away this week unexpectedly from back surgery and I am not going to lie it is the worst pain I have ever had, and I know it will be for a long time, and I am writing this because I wa ..read more

This year has been hard on all of us in one way or another, people have been sick, lost loved ones, lost jobs, businesses closed, schedules messed up, people working from home, schools being virtual, the election, wearing masks everywhere, not being able to hug (I am a hugger), not being able to visit our loved ones,  trips cancelled and this list could go on and on, but despite all the bad and negative that this year has brought I remind myself daily how thankful I am for the life I have. It was 4 years ago this month that the planning began for Country Bark Boarding, y’all 4 years, th ..read more
