[KDE] MIME types for opening certain types of links in Firefox

Excuse me if I can’t properly explain my issue as I lack a bit of vocabulary and technical background in the matter. Also this is more of a general Linux question I believe, or maybe it’s closer related to the DE I’m using. Using Firefox on KDE, I want to associate opening certain link with a Wine app. The app in question is Vortex for downloading files from Nexusmods. Download links on Nexus can open Vortex to start the download within the manager. Now it comes to what I believe might be mime type associations. You can choose what types do what within Firefox’ settings. By default it’s set t ..read more

Plasma 6 on Stable

I'm looking forward to using Plasma 6. I've tried looking around on the forums, but I've not been able to parse what I'm finding. Is there a way to see the progress it's making though Testing and get an idea of when we might see it on Stable? I was kinda expecting it to be here already, but I prefer to not have issues with the upgrade, so I'm content to wait until the devs are happy with it. submitted by /u/Walzmyn [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Looking at the past history of Manjaro Stable Gnome releases and the timing from the official release and testing and unstable etc. I predict that Manjaro Linux are planning an amazing Jedi powered surprise for us Gnome lovers on May 4th. Now, it is likely to happen around May 4th but I just think personally that it would be very cool. I don't have any inside information. This is all just speculation keeping track of dates from past releases. I am happy whenever they release it and find that their timing in releasing Gnome on the stable branch has always been perfect for me. I just thought th ..read more

I've been looking through Manjaro images and the best one to download and I see on the KDE website that one of their patrons is Google. What does that mean? To what extent is Google into the image and why would they support a Linux distro? submitted by /u/Hip-Bodybuilder-1706 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Anyone ever have trouble getting Manjaro to see drives?

I'm a linux newbie using Manjaro KDE. It is difficult for me to get the OS to see my 4Tb NTFS drive. When it sees it, everything seems to work fine. But it's rare that I can get it to work. Is this because the drive is NTFS? Would I have better luck if I reformatted it to EXT-4? I am not good at using the command line, so I check the file browser (which is Dolphin) and the drive is almost never there. Restarting the computer does not seem to help or refresh anything. It's a desktop computer built by me, with new components. 850w fractal power supply, so I don't think the machine is the issue ..read more

PCVR on Wayland(NVIDIA)

So.. any luck? So far my experience was "subpar" at best. Kubuntu did it much better(despite other issues it had, it nailed VR, somehow). I'm on testing branch with Plasma 6. Is there anyone who is using PCVR on Wayland, with an Nvidia videocard? What is your "route to success"? Are you using the "explicit sync" patch? My current issue is the constant stutter. SteamVR shows tons of hitches. The GPU is RTX 4090, CPU is 5900x. submitted by /u/SiEgE-F1 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Manjaro noob here, question about repos and the AUR

Hello! Long time Debian based distros user here. Coming from Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Elementary OS, etc. I thought about giving Manjaro a try. The default repos in Manjaro seem to have a lot of stuff missing from the other distros I have mentioned above. Take Discord for example, or Vivaldi browser. I also know that Manjaro have access to Arch's AUR. I think that the AUR is scary and I want to stay away from it. I also don't like Snaps and stay away from them aswell. I want to be able to use the default repos as much as possible, and for this Manjaro seems to have most of the software I need. So ..read more
