Mini skein sets are a really popular treat for yarn lovers with lots of different options available. When we have enough minis in stock we offer various mini skein lucky dip sets with quantities ranging from five minis to 24 minis. We also often put together yarn packs of mini skeins with colours that look nice together (ie they're not lucky dip). You can see all our mini skein listings including any sets that are in stock HERE. This past December we also had a 12 mini skein set available called 12 Days of Winter - designed to be a little boost of serotonin ..read more

Welcome to this month’s ECY round up! October has been another busy month (when is it not?!) behind the scenes here at Shedquarters.  [above: Munchkin Pumpkins from our own pattern] For a start we’ve had three lovely hand dyed yarn updates: Keld Aran, Titus Fingering, and Keld Twist. Keld Aran is our aran weight superwash merino/linen which is a really firm favourite for garments in particular although it’s lovely for all sorts - in fact I’m wearing it in a one-skein Swainby cowl as I write this, and I have a cardigan in it draped over the chair next to ..read more

Royal Mail have now issued their advice for postage this festive period. You can read the full advice HERE but in order to factor in us processing orders and getting them to the post office our last order dates are shown below. These dates are advisory only with the intention that items will arrive in time for Christmas. It is NOT a guarantee and we foresee a lot of delays this winter.   To avoid disappointment please make sure to get your orders in with plenty of time to spare. We will be completely closed between Christmas and New Year so will not be ..read more

ECY monthly round up: September 2023

Despite a very major setback on my part September ended up being another month packed with yarn news which is partly why this blog post is so overdue (it’s almost the end of October, oops).  The month started with me having a nasty fall involving some very jagged tarmac on the August bank holiday Monday and with injuries to both legs I wasn’t really able to work in the dye shed for about three weeks, and even then it was really hard to do. As I write this two months later (again, oops) my injuries are healing well and I’m ..read more

June was another busy month at ECY!  It is truly a pleasure to work with people from all over the world - it’s one of the biggest things that I’ve always loved about my job and I get as excited about it now as I did back in 2011 when I got my first international stockists and knit/crochet designers getting in touch. On that note this month’s wholesale orders have gone off to Loop in London,  Seam in Exeter, Yarnaholic in Japan and Joy in South Korea. Loop and Yarnaholic are shops I’ve been working with for many years ..read more

The past couple of months have been really busy here at ECY Shedquarters! There sort of wasn’t much to report on in July because although we did a lot of work it was mostly producing and setting up for things that ended up happening in August.  Let’s start with pattern releases.  Firstly there was our long-awaited Swainby Hat pattern release (which is HERE on our website plus is on Ravelry and Payhip). This pattern has been through test-knitting and we have a gallery of the test knit hats HERE if you want to see what it looks like in ..read more

As we head towards summer here in Yorkshire, I thought it would be good to do a round up of what’s been happening at ECY Shedquarters over the past month. I’ll go through it in chronological order.  We started out with something we’re particularly proud of which was a donation of £960 to Sarah Holmes’ Flower Power Fund, which is an ongoing fundraiser for Marie Curie. Sarah’s been doing the Flower Power Fund for a few years now and I think we’ve been involved every year so far, usually dyeing an exclusive flower-inspired yarn and selling it over the course ..read more

This may not be a blog post you were expecting but please do stick with it! Royal Mail recently announced that due to changes to USPS (that's the US postal service) pricing they would have to increase prices for all shipments to the USA. It's called 'last mile' pricing as it's the last part of the trip that's going to increase in cost. And when I say increase in cost I don't just mean by a few quid, I mean by 50-100%. It's truly horrifying for businesses like us who export a lot to the US, and it's really not what ..read more

Your 2020 gift guide for a yarn fan, knitter, crocheter, or yourself! ?

I think we can all agree that 2020 has been a very different year to what we could possibly have anticipated! With no idea what's going to happen in December (yes we're meant to come out of lockdown on the 2nd but I don't think you can bank on anything right now) we're all having to get creative with gift-buying and sending. In England a lot of retail shops are currently shut and we're not *really* meant to be going out unnecessarily, so I'm sure that like us a lot of you will be looking at buying online. Of course ..read more
