The third and final installation of our collector colour series inspired by the vibrant world of birds is PARADISE TANAGER. This brilliantly coloured tropical bird is native to the Amazon Rainforest and we were so inspired by it’s striking blue belly!
This month’s collector colour is on a KPPPM fingering weight Merino base and is a blend of speckled and stripes.
With a neutral background, the pops of electric blue, indigo, purple and black will blend beautifully into a fade of other variegated Koigu colours.

December’s collector colour continues our bird series and is inspired by the Pine Grosbeak! This beautiful bird native, only to North America and parts of the Subarctic, has a beautiful red body and warm grey wings with black and white accents. This has inspired Taiu to create an unconventional colourway that is the PINE GROSBEAK in KPPPM fingering weight merino.
Each skein is 50g/175yds/160m 100% merino

We are back with part 2 of Pinterest Trend Predictions for 2024! I am having a great time finding ways that these predictions apply to the fibre arts industry. Let’s take a look at it…
Full Pinterest Report Make it Big: Oversized Accessories
Oversized jackets and sweaters have been in for a while now, but 2024 is going to be the year of making accessories BIGGER than ever before. From oversized scarves, to puffy sweaters, to super extravagant hats, the BIGGER the BETTER. If it’s not big in size then it’s big in impact with bold colours, shapes and textures.

The first in our series of colourful bird inspired collector colours! PAINTED BUNTINGs are beautiful bright coloured birds in the Cardinal family, Native only to North America.
PAINTED BUNTING is a new type of variegated dyeing Taiu has tried out to mimic the blocks of colour on the painted bunting. The electric blue will stripe and pool differently when knit up because, as you can see (below), the kilogram hank was dip dyed half blue rather than hand-striped. We can’t wait to see what projects you come up with!

The second installment in our gemstone collector series, TOURMALINE, is here this month!
The gem comes in a wide variety of colours and often has a rainbow of saturated hues within one rock. Tourmaline was highly collectable in the 1800s and was brought to Europe from all over Africa in large quantities by the East India Trading Company. Its colours are mainly due to Iron, Manganese and Magnesium, which each cause different colours respectively. Many varieties of Tourmaline are also magnetic!
This month’s collector colour is KPPPM fingering weight and features the rich amber colour of tourmali ..read more

We are so happy to introduce the newest member of our Koigu designer community, Pope Vergara! Koigu has two designs releasing with Pope in the next month, the Diamond Top on May 26th and the Garden Sweater in June. We will have Koigu kits made up and available for both (also available through Mont Tricot).
Since she may be new to many of you, we took some time to ask her a few questions so you can get to know her and her beautiful work better.
