Earlier this year we entered our Bread & Butter Pickles and our Korean Pickled Garlic into the Guild of Fine Food's annual Great Taste Awards. This year 12,777 products were submitted from 106 different countries, all trying to gain a 1, 2 or 3 star Great Taste Award which is regarded as a signpost to an outstanding product. Not every entry receives an award meaning standards are very high. Happy New Year. As we wave goodbye to 2020, I wanted to share some of Crooked Pickle's 2020 highlights, as well as shout a big hoorah and welcome to 2021. First and foremost 2020 was obviously dominated by Covid. With lots of businesses being badly affected, we've been fortunate enough to carry on producing and supplying our delicious pickle products throughout. We all know how special pickles are. But at Christmas, we think they're positively essential food fodder. Let me tell you the story of 'Weihnachtsgurke' (or the Christmas Pickle) and why soon, everyone will be hanging a pickle on their Christmas tree. So where did it all start I hear you ask? Very good question guys! Let me give you The Crooked Pickle's very short history of pickling.... First off, the name 'pickle'. Originating from the Dutch word 'peckel' which simply means 'brine' and refers to the method used when pickling began. In short, it was salty water.
