The impact of climate change is hitting home for Canadians. From the atmospheric rivers causing flooding catastrophes, to more frequent and severe wildfires, it is becoming clear that the threat of extreme weather caused by climate change is a threat we must take seriously. Each year a research study called the 3M State of Science Index (SOSI) is conducted to collect information regarding public attitudes towards science. Establishing and maintaining a robust hygiene monitoring program can be challenging. However, consider these three questions to help evaluate the current status of your program and identify opportunities for continuous improvement: Which test methods are used to evaluate cleaning and sanitation? How are test points selected? How are pass and fail limits for each test point established? Three test methods—used together. Reusable medical devices are designed and manufactured so they could be reprocessed according to the Manufacturer Instructions for Use (MIFU) and established guidelines. Technology development has made advanced yet complex devices available, and outbreaks of infections due to contaminated devices occur1. Inadequately reprocessed medical devices pose the risk of introduction of pathogens that can lead to infection. Reprocessing is necessary to ensure medical devices and instruments do not transmit infectious pathogens to patients2. Compliance to established guidelines for device reprocessing a ..read more

It has been called “The Great Resignation.”  The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has forced many people to reflect and reevaluate their priorities; especially when it comes to their careers and what they want to accomplish. In Canada, an RBC Economics study found almost 100,000 women had exited the labour market, one year after the pandemic began1. That figure was ten times higher than their male counterparts.   While recent Labour Force Surveys show the Canadian economy has reclaimed all the jobs lost due to the pandemic2, some labour market experts point out, for women, much ..read more
