What a March Auction that was! There were so many stellar bottles to choose from it’s difficult to know where to begin to bring you our March auction highlights. Macallan Starting from the top, the auction was led by duo of spectacular Macallans. Taking the lead at £38,000 was a Macallan 1950 Tales of the Macallan Volume 1, a beautiful Lalique crystal decanter featuring a gorgeous engraving of Easter Elchies House and presented inside an almanac specially made by Shepherds Bookbinders. Christmas came early for collectors of old and rare whiskies as a selection of stunning Samaroli whiskies were auctioned from 26 November – 5 December 2023. When it comes to independent bottlers, there are few more revered among whisky lovers than Samaroli. Silvano Samaroli established his wine and spirits merchants in 1968 and in 1979 made the pioneering step of becoming the first independent bottler of Scotch Whisky outside of the UK. There was plenty of competitive bidding in our January Fine & Rare Wine Auction. Auction manager Jeremy Lee shares his highlights. Bordeaux 2011 Chateau Petrus was the worthy top lot in our January wine auction, hitting a cool £2000 for a vintage approaching its plateau of drinkability now (and for the foreseeable future). It headed up an impressive top ten that was dominated by France, neatly managing to represent an impressive swathe of the country’s most beloved styles. Where to begin this month for our December auction results roundup? There was no shortage of early Christmas crackers in our December auction for the discerning whisky collector so read on to see a handful of the highlights. Whisky Topping the auction was a Karuizawa 35 Year Old Cask #8518, one half of Elixir Distiller’s Emerald Geisha releases, which sold for a winning bid of £18,000. Here is a look at some of the highlights from our November Whisky & Spirits Auction Results. Macallan Leading the way this month was this gorgeous Macallan 72 Year Old in Lalique, fetching a final hammer price of £50,000. At the time of its release in 2018, this was the oldest Macallan ever bottled with distillate dating back to the 1940s. The stunning Lalique decanter is housed in an equally beautiful bespoke presentation case designed by Burgess Studio and hand-crafted by cabinet makers NEJ Stevenson.
