We started in MI waters on Friday but ran into heavy weeds disrupting our trolling. Pulled lines and ran NE. Started a few miles north of Sputnik and kept going north. We were near where the MI,Ohio and Canadian borders meet. There was a huge school of fish there and got 18 in about 2hrs. All pulling diver disc's and spoons on 80 ft leads.  Went back there Sat and the fish where there but so we're the weeds. We stuck it out due to the many marks on the graph but had to work for them cleaning weeds 3 to 4 times for every fish. Took us about 4 hours to get 18. Same program as the prior day ..read more

Fished out of turtle creek on Friday from the B can to Niagara Reef. Mostly ran deep diving thundersticks in various colors 10 to 20 ft down - all caught fish. However, a newly purchased bandit (copper clown) and chartreuse/purple thunderstick out fished all others. Caught more sheepshead than you would like, but not too bad, just a couple of white bass and 7 nice walleye - very few undersized walleye.  Fished west out of Catawba State Park on Saturday to the G can using more newly purchased bandits. Purple nipple and a pink/perch color were best. Caught a bunch of walleye, too many to ke ..read more

Back home in West Michigan from four days of Lake Erie walleye fishing off of Ashtabula with old fishing buddy, Bill Schmiege. We learned a lot about Central Basin fishing. It has more in common with Lake Michigan salmon fishing than the Western Basin walleye fishing I'm familiar with. Still wound up with 10 quarts of walleye filets and a couple quarts of steelhead. I sure was impressed with the size of the fish over there. Here are a couple of photos. http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=8057&catid=newimages http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/showimage.php?i ..read more

We left Bolles Harbor and made a long run out near the Ohio/Canadian line between Sputnik and East Sister Island.  Big school of fish there in 31 fow. It was fast action and we got our limit of 18 walleyes. All came on spoons behind diver disc's on 80 and 90 ft leads and on riggers 2-3 ft off the bottom. Picture of the spoons we ran below. Good luck ..read more

We fished NW of West Sister Island Sunday and got our limit trolling Stinger and Dreamweaver spoons behind diver disc's with 90 to 100 leads .  First time I fished there this season, we had been staying in MI waters all season doing great.  I don't think we needed to make the long run. Boats in MI waters did great too.  Good luck ..read more
