Free Online Sudoku
Levels include kids, easy, medium, hard, and evil
Solve the free online sudoku puzzle by filling in the empty cells with a single number (from all the possible candidates) that doesn’t violate Sudoku rules. There is only one correct number per cell. Scan the “givens” looking for the same number in different rows, columns, or regions. Eliminate cells for consideration by applying the Sudoku rules using these numbers.
In cases where the solution isn’t immediately obvious, you markup or pencil in a vacant cell the possible candidates for future reference ..read more

It is a 12×12 Sudoku puzzle with a twist. Here is the scoop.
A typical 12×12 Sudoku puzzle puts the numbers 1 through 9 plus A,B,C in every row, column, and 4×3 box.
Stars & Stripes adds a new wrinkle. Instead of using letters A, B,and C, the puzzle uses three stars in the form of an asterisk (*).
The difference is the 3 stars (*) are the “same”. Each row, column, and 4×3 box will contain three stars in a finished puzzle.
When I solved a sample online game on www.sudoku-usa.net, I found it easier to solve for all the numbers. The remaining open cells had to be stars.

Sudoku Puzzle Solver Algorithm-Driven Program and Computer
There are several good puzzle solvers online and available, but most of them implement only a few solution-seeking algorithms and then fall back on a ‘brute force’ method. I wanted to see if I could create a solver program that approached puzzles the way a human being would, using multiple algorithms.
Frankly, when I started the programming…
I did not realize that there was much beyond naked and hidden singles and thought I would be done with the effort pretty quickly. Only after trying my initial attempts at more complex an ..read more

Sudoku Puzzle — Boxout Pattern
A true Sudoku Puzzle must be resolvable to only one solution. A Boxout Pattern is a Sudoku Puzzle condition to be avoided as it results in the possibility of two solutions.
A Boxout Pattern is generally only observed in the more challenging Sudoku Puzzles.
First let’s examine the attachment “Sudoku Puzzle – Boxout Fragment”.
Observe the Space entries that can only possibly contain a 1 or a 9. These are 15, 16, 78, and 79. (Refer to my other article “Sudoku Square and Space Notation” for a description on how ..read more

Any row, column or grid.
Pick a candidate and count how many the chosen candidate is in the row, column or grid.
Count the cells that are filled in for the row, column, or grid. Add the two counts together. Subtract from nine.
If the number of integers in the remaining cells is less than or equal to the calculation then there is a hidden pair, triplet, or quad. Of course, if they are not hidden it’s not of value.
1) If you look at row candidate 6 in row 6 you get a count of 3
2) There are 2 completed cells(3,9) in row 6 for a co ..read more
