Hi y'all. I'm embarking on a four-day no-food fast, with herb teas and water, including sparkling water. I thought I might share this, as I am - is suffering a good word? - very high fasting blood glucose (FBG) readings, so I know my poor old liver, and cells, my gut signaling, and possibly gut biome? are very diabetically out of whack. And of course, when I get high FBGs, my all-day and night blood glucose (BG) levels are too high for good health. I thought it might be interesting for... Read more ..read more

Intermittent fasting alongside LCHF. Mutual support, anyone?

So I switched to LCHF over the course of January, and the past couple of weeks have added some fasting as well. I am determined now to maintain my weight at a much lower level, and if it is humanly possible, to put my type 2 diabetes into remission and keep it there. Neither of these will be easy. Anyone willing to be a cheerleader, and/or share my journey ..read more

I’ve had T2 for more than 25 years, currently on metformin and Trulicity. Over 10 years ago I lost a ton of weight and got off all medication, and HbA1C stayed in the prediabetic range for a few months. Unfortunately I couldn’t keep it up. About 8 years ago I tried again with LCHF, then keto, and did some intermittent fasting. All very effective, but again, I couldn’t keep it up long term. So here we are again - with an HbA1C which had shot up (I believe largely due to the statin I... Read more ..read more

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has experienced irregular heartbeats whilst fasting ? This came about at the doctor's whilst having my type 2 diabetes review, never had this type of issue before and the only thing I'm doing different is alternate day fasting but not sure if that's something anyone on here has experienced before. Look forward to any advice that may help as fasting really seems to be helping me, am booked in for an ECG Friday week to be safe but would love to hear from... Read more ..read more

Hi, this may sound like a bit of a daft question, so I apologise if it is. I'm really interested in trying a fast, so just trying to get the facts. I'm type-1 diabetic. Are type-1 diabetics allowed to fast? Doesn't fasting evoke ketosis and ketones? Isn't that bad for a type-1 diabetic? Thanks in advance, jp619 ..read more
