To EAs that have been in the field for long and who do something impactful on a daily basis: have you seen your criteria for friends changing and how to be OK with accepting people around you who are not impactful despite being aware of suffering? I think I’m not alone when I say that I would like to believe the Effective Altruism community is a fair and public forum for discussion. While many of us may be skeptical of the free market of ideas, we still try to maintain a healthy market of ideas within these spaces. Assuming that everyone is on a level playing field, we generally work to assume good faith. That everyone is playing fairly, and simply trying to get to the truth, even if we disagree.
