Answering the question in point, Dr. Muzammil H. Siddiqi, former President of the Islamic Society of North America, states: “Marriages between first cousins are allowed in Islam. In surat an-Nisa’ (4:22-24), Allah mentioned the women who are forbidden for marriage and then He said, “… Lawful to you are all beyond those mentioned, so that

Alsalamo Alaykum. I would like to know: My parents and I sat down with a girl whom i love and her parents, and my dad ask for the girl's hand in marriage to me and her dad agreed. we then discussed the Mahr & Shabka and Mo2a'7ar and when Katb el Ketab will be. My question is this: Now, no one is allowed to ask for her hand in marriage since she is considered engaged to me, right? How about breaking off the engagement, can her parents or my parents do it without my or her consent? or to break off the engagement it must be MY or HER decision?? THank you for your time :)

Respected scholars, as-salamu `alaykum.
Please let me know the etiquette of meeting a potential spouse.
there is a brother who wishes to meet me to see if we are suitable. He said that he has the right to ask to see some of my hair, the way I walk, some of my leg even.
I was horrified to hear this, because he said this
was Sunnah.
Please help.

Dear Scholars Assalamu Alaikum.
I have this question about Marriage. I would be very very greatful if one of you take
time to answer my question.
My Question is What I know is Marriage in court office is demed legal given that Bride and Groom
consented, There are at least 2 Muslim witnesses , Mehr is determined and Wali for Bride
gave consent . My question is whether it is necessary for the person who is conducting the
marriage to declare the Mehr. If he/she does not declare it loud the Marriage is valid or
not ?
Thank you for your time.

Where I live, all people play music during their wedding. I is customary that music is played and the women (who are completely separate from the men) dance and cheer for the bride. Even the religious people here play music during the wedding. Also, the Muslims where I live refuse to dance to Nasheed.
I do not listen to music because I heard it was haraam, but would it be permissible to play music just on the wedding reception? I know my wife's family could not imagine having a wedding celebration without some music.
