My name is Zhang Gefei. Unlike the western norm, Gefei is my first name and Zhang is my family name. My nickname, which is called by my family members and only closest friends, is Feifei. It is very normal for Chinese people to have such a nickname which is made up of the last word of our first name. I also have an English name Susan, which is given by my English teacher. I prefer to be called that way while in Germany since it’s easier for my friends and teachers here to pronounce it. lalalaal I come from China, which is a beautiful country with five thousand years of history. 2024 or 1978?

In Italy, the law that allows women to terminate a pregnancy (IVG) is the 194, approved in 1978 after the victory of numerous feminist movements that encountered the opposition of many political forces in the Parliament. Eventually the law passed, but it was the result of a compromise, the greatest of which was the introduction of conscientious objection. Actually, the law is not based on the positive affirmation of the right to abortion of every woman, but it just functions as a regulation of the cases in which abortion is not considered a crime. It is assumed that motherhood is not carried o ..read more

A love letter to Munich

Dear Munich, It’s time to say goodbye, not farewell though. Munich is, from my point of view, one of the most beautiful cities ever. This Erasmus experience has been an opportunity to meet people from all around the world, engage with them, share joys, experiences, traditions, food, and drinks. Erasmus is undoubtedly an opportunity that fosters integration. There is nothing more beautiful. I remember when taking the train from Venice, I had 39 grades of fever and i was without expectations, and it turned out one of the best experience ever. Time has literally flown and this semester has come ..read more

The worst thing about Munich

The worst thing about Munich is the thought of leaving it. It’s been 5 months since I’ve been here, I’ve got to know everything. I made new friends, learned a few things from my courses, and even learned some German. I got here at the end of September. I had a week to settle in, and then the terror massacre on October 7th happened inIsrael. It was hard, try and live my life here, in the fun, cool, warless Munich, while back home my friends are being murdered, kidnapped, or rejoining the army. In psychology there is ..read more

Hi Munich, this is my 119th day here. In Samuel’s (coming soon) farewell video, I said that coming here for an exchange was the best decision I’ve ever made. This is true, I love the beautiful and conducive learning environment at LMU, cherish the room I meticulously decorated in Olydorf, and appreciate the cleanliness and safety of the entire city. After navigating through daily life, shopping, exercising, and seeking medical care with ease, Munich has truly become a place where I feel at home, providing relaxation whenever I need it. As a long-time fan of FC Bayern Munich and ..read more

Unforgettable and irremovable memories in Munich

In the blink of an eye, it is time to say goodbye to all the unforgettable and irremovable memories I have made here in Munich.  During my arrival in Munich in October, I was a girl not expecting too much about what would happen during my exchange semester and just worrying about unpacking my huge suitcases. Being in Europe for the first time, living away from my parents for the first time, and literally having no friends here was not a good beginning to my exchange life. Although it sounds negative, this month has made me very independent and adventurous, where I would willingly step ou ..read more

Hello there! Time flies, and I find myself writing my final post here with a mix of nostalgia and excitement. The journey from familiar Zurich to the vibrant corners of Munich has been a true rollercoaster. Let’s rewind a bit.  When I first mentioned that Munich would be my exchange destination, many doubted it because of its proximity to Zurich. Some assumed that I wouldn’t be able to celebrate the same experiences and successes in a country that somewhat resembles my home. However, over the months, Munich unfolded in ways I hadn’t expected. The city became more than just an exchange d ..read more

I cannot imagine that the exchange in LMU is coming to an end. The final week is around the corner and it is time that we pack up all the memories and go on. I love this city not only because of the traditional and typical Munich buildings, the sense of home and safety after traveling, the thick snow I had never encountered, but also because I have been deeply in the life here. I complain about DB. I have pork knuckle, sausage and beer. I visit a lot of media organizations in Munich for my course. I meet my Malaysian, German, Indian and Chinese friends on the badminton court every week on ..read more
