Saint Patrick's 2024 was quite a month! It was full of travel, wonderful music, and the chance to meet so many incredible people along the way. From the heart of West Virginia to Northern Virginia, this has been the most travel we've done for St. Patrick's to date. We've added some of our favorite photos from the month and hope you enjoy them!
After the festivities at the Celtic Calling, we led a session at Adelphia's Sports Bar & Grille
This was the greatest way to end off a St. Patrick's season, thank you so much Big Lick Brewing ..read more

Up to this point in our lives, neither of us have spent much time outside the country. But this year alone we were given the amazing privilege of visiting Ireland (with a wonderful though all-too-short stopover in Iceland!) and most recently Ontario, Canada for the Goderich Celtic Roots Festival. If you're anything like us and love traveling to check out highland games and Celtic festivals around the country, this is one you'll absolutely want to put on the bucket list to see. Here are our top five reasons why Goderich is among our top favorite festivals:

One night only at the Spot on Kirk! Kinnfolk presents "Star Above the Mountain," a collection of traditional Irish tunes and brand-new Celtic folk music celebrating Roanoke, Virginia.
The evening of June 30, 2023 was very, very special to us. This was the night we finally performed "Kinnfolk Presents: Star Above the Mountain" to a live audience at The Spot on Kirk.
We've been piecing together this concert for close to a year now. It all started last summer, when we sent off a grant proposal for an enormous project: to pen a collection of original Celtic folk music celebrating our town of Roan ..read more

The honeymoon saga continues! After two nights in Dublin (both spent with the fun and crowd-energizing musicians at O'Donoghue's Bar), we packed up our things and boarded our first of many, many intercity bus. The next destination? Cork.
Our itinerary in Cork was twofold: to enjoy as many trad sessions as possible, and to explore the famous Blarney Castle!

Some locations on our trip, we chose because they are must-see for tourists visiting Ireland for the first time. Others, we chose because we are deeply nerdy and Irish tr ..read more

Tickets Now Available!
Last fall, we announced that we'd been selected to receive an Art Matters Grant through the City of Roanoke and the National Endowment of the Arts. The project was simple enough: pen a collection of Roanoke-themed songs and tunes that embraces the Celtic motif of place—exploring our city, its history, its people, and its stories through traditional music. We promised that the project would culminate in a live performance showcasing the new material...
And now that day has come! Our project, Star Above the Mountain, is coming to The Spot on Kirk stage on Friday, June 30 ..read more

For our honeymoon, we took the trip of a lifetime: three weeks in Ireland with eyes wide open, ready to explore the cities, drink in wild landscapes, and forge friendships with acquaintances from across the Atlantic ocean. As Celtic musicians, our trip was particularly special because we chose places significant to Irish traditional music! Whether seeking out world-class sessions in local pubs, visiting the haunts of famous musicians, or simply locating a city block referenced in a traditional song, our journey dripped with reels and jigs and late nights full of craic.

For our honeymoon, we spent three weeks traveling around Ireland in search of traditional music. We sat in with a total of 22 sessions...sometimes more than one per night, and sometimes at the same pub on different nights. Each gathering of musicians had its own special character. Here are our top 5 favorites.
1. Sin É – Cork
From the moment we stepped into Sin É, it was immediately clear that this was one of the places to be for solid trad music. The name translates to "That's it" in English, named for the fact it is located next to a funeral home. Hailed by many as the best pub in Cork for ..read more
