Back in Sept I found the Soap & Clay channel on the you tubes and I loved the way Chantine explained the science behind stuff and all of her deep dives plus she’s super funny. I found it really fascinating so I started following and joined her group. Well every month she does challenge for the members and so I decided to do it… and I was one of the three selected.
Oh yea and I mentioned in my little background that I came into CP soap making because of this forum and she mentioned that too. I guess some soap forums can be a little icky and not nice or judgmental. I don’t have any ..read more

Does anyone know if Daystar is still in business? Because when I go to their website it doesn’t work. Also, does anybody know if Bittercreek North was bought? I am going to need the vanilla stabilizer in the worst way. Thanks in advance, Kristy ..read more

Everything was going fairly well. This bath took a little while to get to the a thick trace but I eventually got there. As I was cleaning up and checking on things I noticed my soap looked like it was melting in the mold! This photo was about 30-45min after I poured it ..read more

I've made cold process soap a handful of times now, and I'm preparing to try hot process for the first time. I've done a bunch of reading so I think I have a gameplan, except for one thing.
Can I safely use a 2-quart (8 cup) crockpot to make a 2-pound loaf? A 2-quart mixing bowl is the perfect size for my 2-lb cold process batches, but I know hot process can tend to volcano, so I'm wondering if a 2-quart crockpot will be cutting it a bit too close. All of the videos I've seen show a larger recipe with a full-sized crock pot (probably 6-quart), but I don't want to make ..read more

Hi greetings!
I'm new to this site and new to the art of creating body care goods.
The foaming whipped sugar scrubs truly intrigue me.
I used to purchase jars of them through etsy often.
I realized that since I have an overall interest in this product why not try and give it a go at making my very own batch of it!?
I don't feel comfortable or confident enough to start making my base from scratch just yet
So I looked around online & ended up purchasing Stephensons OPC bath butter base just to be able to get my feet wet and be able to grow some experience off of it.
I al ..read more

Hi everyone! After a long hiatus, I'm venturing back into soapmaking. The benefit of my time away has allowed me to really judge some very fully cured bars of soap I created last year, and now I want to improve on them.
I use an olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, and castor oil blend for my soaps. I like this blend for how easy it to unmold and how it feels in the hand when being used, good lather, hard but not too hard that if I dropped it, an edge would chip off etc. However, while it's perfect consistency for my tastes as a shower bar soap, it fails pretty spectacularly as a hand s ..read more
