Has anyone on here:
1 - Bought a Logosol 1001 23hp petrol Bandsaw Mill and
2 - Made any money milling larch cladding etc. with it. ?
Any insights into how good the machine is and wether it is worth the investment would be most welcome.
We get a lot of oversize timber delivered (hard and soft) at Firewood prices that is a pain to process into firewood and plenty of Larch and Douglas that is the ideal size for live edge cladding.
I also need a lot of timber for building projects etc etc. myself.
Thankyou for any replies in advance ..read more

I'm seriously thinking of getting another bandsaw mill.
The woodlands I've got is nearly four years old and although still going strong I find the engine does struggle sometimes.
What are your thoughts on the Logosol machines any preference.
Do I go for the new Woodlands model HM130 MAX or a Logosol B751 PRO ..read more

Hi don't suppose anyone knows where I would get a 9 or 10 inch tension gauge for benching wide bandsaws do they?
Google just seems to show me something that measures the tension on the blade!
Thanks ..read more

I have always considered pine timber to be non-durable. I have noticed however a number of instances where it resists rot surprisingly well.
I am not talking about pitch pine or oregon pine (Douglas Fir) but the types of pines we get here in the UK - I guess: scots, lodgepole, ponderosa, radiata.
Can anyone guide me - are certain ones known to be durable? Or are they all more durable than I imagined?
I would have said they are not much better than spruce, but I am thinking they are actually closer to larch.
What do you think fellow Arbtalkers ..read more

hi folks
Felled a more or less dead Beech today and the customer would like to mill the stem. It's pretty decent.....nearly 3' at the base and 2' at the top. Access isn't great so it's probably in the balance to use a chainsaw versus someone coming to pick it up take to the mill and then return with the boards.
I've only milled smaller stems for fun really with my 576 (ported) and the small log mill.
I have a 3120xp and wondering on getting setup with this saw to do this job. Of course would like to use what I have but.....
I have 36" and 42" bars for the 3120, but ..read more

Hi All
Just wondering if anyone had any experience using these blades on decent size native hardwoods ?. Getting a vfd fitted soon to bring blade speed down and looking to find a good blade. I had good results with the 4degree woodmizer double hards on my previous mill. Got a good bit more power and torque now so looking at other options. My number one goal is consistency not overly fussed regards speed of cut.
