Ryan Ratino’s Tasting Menu @omobyjont I recently heard one of the reasons why we evolve so quickly as a species, is because one or more people decide to dedicate themselves to one thing for years if necessary until they ace it. Once the knowledge is available it is then passed down to the masses and it instantly leaps us all those years ahead. It wasn’t a coincidence I read about this the same week, I visited this restaurant. Instead of reviewing each dish and providing a detailed critique, I think it’s better to just welcome this outsider as a BIG BROTHER, that’s coming to our city to tak ..read more

I don’t know if you know, but until very recently I didn’t have any favorite restaurants in Orlando. I only had favorite dishes, which came from different restaurants. This place has made it on my very limited list of favorite restaurants via its vegetarian tasting menu. They don’t have a specific vegetarian menu, but they’re are willing to accommodate vegetarians as well as people with certain aller ..read more

VEGETABLE VIRTUOSO

I will first start by stating how proud I am, that I can eat food at this level in my hometown. The chef has a way with vegetables, which is not that easy to pull off. Making a vegetable centric dish and making it taste and look amazing isn’t an easy task and it’s very hard to find. The roasted carrots over carrot purée and millet popcorn was flawless. The best dish on the menu from my point of view. It nailed presentation, textures, layers and flavors! My favorite dish was the beet carpaccio. It was genius! It wasn’t the best, because the sweetness was off balance, but nothing that fine ..read more

BIB GOURMAND RAMEN

This restaurant has been a hotspot in Orlando for quite some time. So much so, that they’ve never taken reservations. It’s first come first serve and there’s always a wait. I suggest, you come on a weekday and plan to have a drink by the bar, while you wait for your table. The Michelin Guide recently awarded them a Bib Gourmand and this has hyped the spot even more. I hadn’t been back for some time and I wanted to see how they were keeping up with their fame and high demand. I am happy to inform, they are definitely living up to it, because everything I had was on point. They offer a vegan r ..read more

This restaurant made me think of Louis Armstrongs song; What a Wonderful World. I don’t think my feeling will explain the theme or the flavor of the food, but it should definitely give you a good idea of the vibes and the energy. It sincerely felt like everyone in the restaurant had a big heart for food and for people. Although you can walk in and order a la cart, I reserved a tasting experience. Once I prepaid 2 weeks before, I started to get more and more excited about this dinner date. I was a little worried, because I didn’t want my expectations to work against me or my first impression of ..read more

Crunchy CauliflowerPineapple Jam, Spicy Aioli, Garlic AioliPineapple ExpressLobster RisottoPork ChopSAVED BY SAUCEShrimp & Grits The sauces made my night. The food was good, but the sauce made it exceptional! The spicy aioli combined with the pineapple jam was superb… but it wasn’t really present together in any dish. I saw the sauces on the menu in different descriptions and I asked to get them all on the side. The service was excellent and they accommodated all my requests in the most welcoming way. It felt like my requests were being celebrated by our server. I really loved that! It’s h ..read more

Bean QuesadillaBean TacoEsquitesChips, Guac & QuesoSpiked Horchata These Sonora style flour tortillas are so good, I might refuse to eat any other tortilla for the rest of my life until I find a better one! I’m the dough boy, I go crazy for anything that comes from a dough and is done properly… This is the type of thing I get excited about!!! I had been hesitant to come, because the only vegetarian options are a bean quesadilla or a bean taco… It might not sound exciting, but it could easily be the best quesadilla I’ve had period. The flakiness of the tortilla is unprecedented, it reminded ..read more

Lavender & Licorice Caramel / Strawberry, Honey Balsamic & Black Pepper Who is Mickey? All the magic is of Disney is here! All the flavors are pre mixed. It’s scoop and serve, which initially gave me the sense it wasn’t going to be as good for the lack of active craftsmanship and I was soooooooooo WRONG! I will find any excuse to avoid coming to @disneysprings and I just found a good reason to say yes every time! The flavor pairings apart from being delicious, they are adventurous, daring, different and fun… MESMERIZING!!! Note: The Lavender & Licorice ice cream, could be the best ..read more

Apart from surviving I-4 in order to get to it from Orlando, I actually refer to the culinary portion of the endeavor. The menu is all over the place, which means it can’t be defined by a specific cuisine. When the food is at this level of delicious, it has a category of its own. You could see a certain favor towards East Asian flavors, noticiable in the food and the drinks. It was an impeccable meal from start to finish with the ex ..read more

Large menus are an automatic turnoff for me, because it’s almost impossible they’ll be able to deliver greatness in each dish. This restaurant definitely delivered greatness and above all, refined flavor! The Olives are a entertaining way to break the ice, while sipping on some Natural Wine. I couldn’t stop eating them, until they were gone! The Cucumber Salad seemed so simple, that I almost didn’t order it, and it was simply delicious. It was very refres ..read more
