The Chambre Marie-Louise Lachapelle was one of the many rooms that we were not able to visit before purchasing the Château. The hallway leading to this room had caved in and so all of the rooms in this area of the Château were inaccessible… Once the first phase of work began, and the rubble had been removed and the area consolidated, we were finally able to see this room for the very first time. In September and October this year, we were delighted to welcome guests to stay with us for the very first time in the fall season. Fruits and foliage decorated harvest tables set upon the front terrace, awaiting open air feasts beneath the golden glow of the sunshine. Later, home-made fig jam accompanied cheese, charcuterie and drinks before dinner and bountiful banquets in the evenings were naturally followed by poached fruits for dessert. Over the last month we have been busily preparing and dressing the Château in anticipation of welcoming guests once again during the fall months. 18th century quilted blankets emerged from inside antique trunks to decorate the salons and provide warmth in the evenings, flowers dried from the gardens in summer were carefully crafted to make poesies to be laid upon each bed, autumn shades of earthenware pottery, platters and plates were set upon the dining table ready for a seasonal display of cuisine and autumn fruits from the gardens and markets awaited to be poached and baked into a variety o ..read more

Winter has arrived at the Château and the mountaintops are dusted softly with snow. Alfie and Bruce, the Château dogs, enjoy their daily walks around the property fossicking and chasing each other about the snow… A crisp, winter breeze blows through barren trees devoid of leaves. It has been an unusually wet and chilly beginning to the season. Amongst the busyness of the summertime, we were fortunate to spend a few magical, sunny days and starry summer nights in Paris. Traversing the paths of history through old, cobblestone streets, enjoying the shade beneath the trees of the city’s picturesque parks and gardens and meandering through museums and galleries. We enjoyed brioche for breakfast, lemon tarts for lunch and all sorts of delicious delicacies for dinner! Bonjour from the south of France! Spring has sprung and the fields and forest of the Château are filled with flowers… This season at the Château we have been slowly and lovingly tending to the garden in preparation for a full display of florals and colour in the summertime. Tulips and crocus, daffodils and snowdrops, lily of the valley and flowering quince make the garden a canvas of colour.
