My 2-3 month old male baby budgie stopped sleeping by himself recently. He only sleeps when I'm around, or when he's on my shoulder, and if I'm not around, he won't sleep and sometimes call for me, usually restless. I'm really worried, What could I do to help him sleep on his own or feel safer ..read more

I can't figure this out! Haha! How old is she approximately and why the brown cere when she arrived if she was just a baby???
First Pic 3 after we took her in.
Arrived with...
* brown cere (at least 6 months old?)
* fully black eyes (under 4 months?)
* black lines very near to the cere (under 4-6 months?)
Second Pic today, 2.5 months after arrival...
* white cere with a dot of blue
* faint thin gray iris (4-6 months? Which would put her at 2-3 months upon arrival???)
* black lines a...

Hi, all. I'm new to using forums, so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place. I'm desperate for advice as my birds' poop is liquid-y.
I have two male parakeets who are both approx. 2-3 years old. In the last few days, I've noticed that there has been watery yellow liquid (urine? poop?) in the bottom of their cage. Their cage is very tall and they sit on the top perch, so that could account for the big splash pattern of the poop. But I'm extremely worried about the yellow in their waste. I...

New here and apologies for asking in advance.
I found a budgie flying around my house, for four or five days I tried to get him, and today I finally coaxed him into a cage. On the first or second day I noticed a spot on his lower back(?) above his tail has exposed feathers as in you see the pins where they start. I've never seen it in any budgie I owned.
Now, today before I caught him, I saw his longest tail feather came off possibly overnight and of course that's concerning. I'm curious...

I have a 1 year old female who is very bonded to me. My husband and I also care for my 94 yr old father. Both demand lots of attention. My father, of course is not a bird predator but he could never be careful (opening outside doors watching where he steps etc). For that reason I keep her in a large bird safe room and keep her cage door open. I’m retired and literally spend hours with her most days but I can’t everyday. Do I want to get her a buddy. Also I love watching budgies interact. I...

Just wanted y'all to know I'm still kicking here - along with Fergus and Fiona, they are doing just fine.
Much has happened in the past year, good and bad, and I regret not spending more time here.
Sometimes I think it's ADD, or something! (funny, I used to think that was just children).
Anyhow, my apologies for not posting more - I just wanted everyone to know I'm with ya'll in spirit,
and I think about my birdie family here ..read more
