Hi, I've been trying for a while to get my favorite patient, Titan, to do... Literally anything. As I've been to the vet a few weeks ago it became more clear, she isn't overweight but could loose a few. Her diet is healthy and she gets an appropriate amount of food. Vet said she is healthy, her muscles are good, but the vet put her on the scale twice because he couldn't believe the weight gain over a week. I've been putting her on the scale and it's somewhat stable in that range. And the vet... what to do with a lazy bird ..read more

Hello, for about a month I have been trying to solve my budgie's breathing problems, but unfortunately I have not been able to find a solution. When the coughing fits that occur 6-7 times during the day started, I took it to the veterinarian without wasting time (in the first week its appetite was normal, it was cheerful, only coughing). After listening with a stethoscope, the doctor said there was edema in its lungs and started it on antibiotics. After a week of antibiotic treatment, saying... Breathing problems ..read more

Hi, So I recently finally managed to rescue two budgies that have been treated like utter crap for years, locked in a cage the whole time (one of those horrid tall & thin cages), they're both overweight & while one appears to be acting healthy (apart from her weight obviously) & is very vocal and acting normally the male is not in good shape at all. He has been very quiet, hardly making any noises & sits fluffed up sleeping most of the time & over the past few days has vomited once but is... recently rescued two budgies that have been treated very poorly & one is ill ..read more

Following on from an earlier thread… We completed our move! For a temporary cage, I got a Prevue 30x18x18 cage, which was the biggest I could find that would fit in the back of the car. Now that we've found a house and moved in, it's time to get a better sized cage for 3 budgies. Right now they're caged while they get used to the new space, but in the near future they'll be free-flying again. Anyway, bearing in... Large cage suggestions ..read more

Gender & Mutation?

This is my 6 month old budgie, Willy. I was told by the breeder that he/she was 100% a male when I got them at 8 weeks old. I’ve been told that my bird is now a female. I know the “usual” way to tell by looking at their cere colors, but this Willy doesn’t seem to fit the usual rules. Also, I’m wondering their mutation. My guess is single factor dominant pied. Thanks for your assistance ..read more
