Rabbi’s Reflections – Thursday, November 10, 2022 Shalom, They’ve issued hurricane warnings for Tropical Storm Nicole for Central Florida.  Jan and I were supposed to fly out of Sanford, Florida on Thursday morning, but decided to drive home on Wednesday instead.  We prayed and felt like driving would be better than hoping our flight won’t be cancelled by the weather.  If the flight cancelled, and since Allegiant only has one flight per day to Knoxville, who knows when we would get rebooked.  So drive we must. All that to say I’m driving and not writing.  We’ll pick up ..read more

Rabbi’s Reflections – Tuesday, November 8, 2022 Shalom, Rabbi’s note:  This week, Jan and I are honored to attend the semi-annual American Apostolic Team meeting in Orlando.  I’m not sure I’ll have time to write as usual.  That said, I did get this today. The Upper Room Discourse (part 69 of ???) John 17:11 I am no longer in the world; but they are in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name that You have given Me, so that they may be one just as We are. Why does Yeshua pray, “Keep them…?”  He is praying that God will “Shomair” His people.  ..read more

Rabbi’s Reflections – Sunday, November 27, 2022 Shavuah Tov, Thanksgiving – Part 3… “It Does A Body Good!” by Dr. Raymond Finney FIRST INTRODUCTION– MIND, BODY, SPIRIT: This past Thursday, November 24, was America’s Thanksgiving Day. In two earlier RRs this month, I discussed what men and women say and what the Bible says about giving of thanks to and offering praise to and worship of God. I group these three activities together because I feel they are variations of similar displays of appreciation for God’s goodness and blessings. I hope you enjoyed the festive celebration of Thanksgiving Day ..read more

Rabbi’s Reflections – Saturday, November 26, 2022 Shabbat Shalom, Day 22: Morning Messiah’s Body Grows Through Our Mutual Communication by David Harwood I have consistently reiterated what our Messiah called the Greatest Command, the Foremost Command, and added my own description: the Prioritized Command. Why not also consider it as the Spotlighted Command, the Emphasized Command, or the Center-Stage Command? God commanded us to love Him, and Yeshua said that it was the greatest, foremost, first-priority, spotlighted, emphasized command that takes center stage. Speaking of “center stage,” does ..read more

Rabbi’s Reflections – Friday, November 25, 2022 (Early) Shabbat Shalom, The Upper Room Discourse (part 81 of ???) John 17:19 “And for their sakes I make Myself holy, so that they also may be made holy in truth.” Now Yeshua’s prayer turns to holiness.  Holiness is an interesting commodity.  It can be challenging to our intellect.  No one ever went to the store for a pound of holiness.  The Hebrew word for “holy” is “Kadosh.”  It means “separate or set apart.”  It reminds me of the phrase “called out ones.” We have been called out of darkness. Rabbi’s Reflections – Thursday, November 24, 2022 Shalom, The Upper Room Discourse (part 80 of ???) John 17:18 “Just as You sent Me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.” Rabbi Trail:  Who would have thought there would be 80 parts to this study on the Upper Room Discourse, and we’re not done.  Yeshua launched His ministry with the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7).  Now, at the end of His earthly ministry, Yeshua speaks again at length in the Upper Room Discourse (John 13-17).  It has been a delight to share my thoughts on His teachings.  End RT. Rabbi’s Reflections – Monday, November 21, 2022 Shalom *|FNAME|*, The Upper Room Discourse (part 77 of ???) John 17:14 I have given them Your word; and the world hated them, because they are not of the world just as I am not of the world. 15 I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one. Here is Yeshua’s fifth and final thought in these two verses… John 17:15b …but that You keep them from the evil one.  Yeshua comes to the point in His prayer for us.  He is asking the Father to “keep” us from the evil one.  In Hebrew, what we trans ..read more

Rabbi’s Reflections – Sunday, November 20, 2022 Shavuah Tov, Thanksgiving – Part 2… What God’s Word Says by Dr. Raymond Finney INTRODUCTION: Next Thursday, November 24, is America’s Thanksgiving Day. In last Sunday’s RR, I presented quotations from men and women about this day. Today, I include a sample of Scripture verses about what God’s Word says about the need to give thanks, praise, and worship to others– especially God. The following verses, presented in random order, provide only a sample of Scriptures that could be quoted. Many quotations could be made just from the Book of Psalms. A p ..read more
