So Jason, what did you do on Tuesday? I met the lovely Saraw and her fiancé Mark to act as a Witness to their Wedding in Hatfield! Background, or how I came to help with their Wedding I’m a member of many Wedding Groups on Facebook and read a post from Saraw, asking if anyone could help her out by being a Witness for her Wedding. Legally, every Wedding needs 2 Witnesses. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, their families would be unable to travel into the UK and they had no-one to call on other than some strangers on Facebook. There was plenty of time, but I could see there was a risk she could be ..read more

We all want an epic, awesome, flipping excellent party, don’t we? In the lead-up to your party, you’ve finalised details with suppliers and invited your friends to celebrate.  Is your work done? The gap between sending invites, chasing down replies and the actual party date can easily be months and for Weddings, perhaps a year.  From the perspective of your guests, the excitement and gratitude of receiving your invite will fade over time. If I were holding a party, I’d want my guests excited about the date, I want it to be their red-letter-day for that year.  They’ll know it ..read more

What do you play? Party Music?
Hertfordshire DJ Blog

What DO you play? DJs are often asked, “what do you play”.  Now, we’ll all have our personal favorites – after all, we’ll listen to music on the way to and from your party and we’ve chosen this line of work through our love of music.  Not every party will have the typical Party Music you may expect. I’m going to talk about 3 different parties and go into a little bit of detail behind each. Party Music? We all have our favorite party tunes, but one mans, Black Lace is another’s Hell, so most modern DJs will provide a music consultation and also provide the ability for ..read more

DJs… A Product or Service?
Hertfordshire DJ Blog

Picking a DJ…  Are you booking a Product or Service? In this article, I’ll show why you can’t treat a SERVICE as a PRODUCT. There is a big difference and comparing DJ A vs DJ B is a bit more complicated and involved than looking at their Website and Price or even asking other couples on Facebook. We all like to be treated special and feel unique. A stranger who makes us feel special is remembered and favoured over someone just going through the motions. Service with a smile or a shrink-wrapped generic cardboard box?   What do you think? I’m in many Facebook groups for Wedding ..read more

Wedding Suppliers in Liquidation – Don’t get ripped off!
Hertfordshire DJ Blog

I’m very active on Facebook for Business and personal.  A few months ago, I woke up to find reports that another Wedding Supplier has closed and many couples are left with a number of massive problems in the lead up to their day. This saddens me for a number of reasons: The couples need to get a refund.  It’s not clear how long this will take or even if it’s possible.  Short term, this may limit their ability to secure replacement services as their money will be tied up with the supplier. A Business was under quoting to gain work (quoting too cheap) and this was not sustainabl ..read more

The Wedding Playlist – Saviour or Not? As a Wedding DJ, I’m often asked to play many varied styles (check out THIS article).  Of course, the party classics often get an airing, but many parties will have their own particular favorites. [su_quote]Your DJ will have 1 thing in common with you.  They want an awesome party![/su_quote] They want bragging rights that they had a great one, people dancing and singing all night, a delighted client and they’ll drive away knowing they helped provide a night to remember. Ok, so you’re worried about the DJ upsetting your cool mates by playing the ..read more
