VANCOUVER LASER’S NEW LOCATION, RMEDY? AESTHETICS

As you all know I love my visits to Vancouver Laser on Broadway but now they also have another clinic conveniently located in Burnaby on Silver Drive. I had the opportunity to have a tour of the new facility [and get in a little “me-time”] a few weeks ago. I must say as a person who lives in the valley, it is quite convenient having a location to go to that doesn’t involve having to go into downtown. It also doesn’t hurt that the clinic is close to Metrotown in case someone might want to get pampered then do a little shopping! For me the allure of both Vancouver Laser & RMEDY? is the incre ..read more

Shay’s Beary One-derful Birthday!

And what a wonderful 1st birthday it was. For a pandemic birthday, I think we did quite well. Only a handful of our closest family & friends attended and it was cozy, at-home perfection. I had a few ask why we chose the “bear” theme– well, a dear friend of mine gifted Shay a tiny bear when she was still in my belly and she loved it from the moment she came into this world. One of her first words is also “bear”! Plus its the end of January so if we needed to be out in the cold for whatever reason I would just dawn her bear suit and we’d be fine, lol. So the bear theme just fit and it came ..read more

And so the saga of my culturally inflicted hurt and guilt continued… My darling baby girl number 3 was born and I was. In. LOVE. And I felt even more horrible (if that was even possible) about my previous indiscretion. The weight of my unfortunate reaction when finding out the gender of my baby was constant and heavy. I couldn’t be the only person in the world that had felt this way, could I? Was there something wrong with me? Was this on the spectrum of postpartum depression? Was I an unfit mother? Did I need to speak to a professional about this? I had so many questions that I desperately wa ..read more

Now that you’ve heard the story leading up to now, you can probably understand why having 3 daughters is a blessing; a miracle no less. So when “poor you” comments get thrown around it doesn’t make me sad– it makes me angry. Why would you pity me for something I would never change. Why would you hope and wish for me a different outcome when I have the best one already– 3 beautiful, healthy babies. Why was this ingrained in my mind since I was a little girl? Why is this even a thing?! That also makes me angry. That this is even a topic of conversation. Since I mean for this story to be fully tr ..read more

So life’s unexpected curveball goes a little something like this– I was woken up in the middle of the night 2 years into our marriage with excruciating abdominal pain. Went to the emergency room and had an ultrasound revealing a 2-3 cm cyst on one of my fallopian tubes. We were told these things sometimes subside on their own so best to take pain medication and monitor. 2 months later I had another routine ultrasound revealing that the cyst had now become a significant 12-13 cm in diameter tumour that was wrapped in my fallopian tube and needed to be surgically removed. Surgical removal of som ..read more

This is a big one. And I’m faced with it constantly. Where to begin…  This is something that started even before I had my first daughter. It started as far back as I can remember, actually. Women in my life having babies and someone regularly saying things like “Oh it looks like you’re having a boy! Boys are good luck!” or “Hopefully you’ll have a boy first– then it won’t matter how many girls you have after that” or someone having a daughter and the response being “Oh well, you can always try again” and the list of statements goes on and on… So it was embedded in my head as a young child ..read more

This is new for me. I tried writing in a journal when I was a kid but it never went anywhere. More so because I felt that if I was honest in my entries— which is the point— someone might come across them one day and be upset about what I wrote. I denied myself the outlet because I was afraid of what someone else was going to feel about my feelings. Sounds crazy but true. I’ve decided now that this may be a good idea because I don’t have thoughts that are secret; rather I have thoughts that most people feel they can’t talk about. And I’m not referring to politics or religion type topics but m ..read more

SHAY’S NURSERY REVEAL

It’s finally complete and I’m so happy with it! Since we kept the gender of this baby a surprise I needed a neutral space. I also wanted it to be calm and inviting. Previously this room was Charlie’s nursery and I went for a bold midnight blue accent wall. I loved that for its own reasons. [Check that out here] But this time I definitely wanted the space to be light and bright. To add some texture we had a local millwork company, called Outline, make this beautiful board and batten wall as the feature. We painted it a very neutral, light brown. The colour, although simple and muted, made all t ..read more
